Can
Who's read the books or watched the show? If you have no idea what this is, Game of Thrones is an HBO show that's based on a series of dark epic fantasy books called A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones is the first book in the series). It's been called the Sopranos in Middle Earth, although that label's not totally correct. To get a taste of how epic and fleshed-out the world of Westeros is, just watch the opening credits of the show:
Nexus
Read all the books, eagerly awaiting Dance with Dragons. Love the show. Only criticism is with how the Hound's childhood has been handled, but other than that, awesome. Fucking hate Catelyn and Sansa. Love Tyrion, Dany and Jon Snow. Can
I haven't read all of them yet, but I heard that Sansa gets much better later on.

Chewblaha
Read every book twice over. Show is doing a great job so far of getting as much as possible and doing it correctly. There's some stuff that hadn't been confirmed (though highly suspected) like Renly and Loras. Though since George is the executive producer I'm sure he told them to go ahead and throw it in. I, too, hate Sansa, Catelyn, and Lysa. Everything is literally their faults. I can't wait to see who is going to play Davos and the Greatjon. My second favorite character was/is/if he can redeem himself is Theon. Robb too comes in a tie with Theon. I also really really think Davos is cool too. Jaime as well and the Reeds. I think Howland Reed is going to play a crucial role in the upcoming books. Goddamn I love so many of these people. But my favorite character in all of the series? Brynden Tully. That one chapter where he speaks directly with Jaime. Oh man. That is hands down, my favorite chapter throughout the series. Chewblaha
Nexus. You made a mistake saying you've read them all. Now I will talk to you about that all the time.
Mr. GOH!
Read them all three times. DwD can't drop soon enough. I like the show. It's a great visual imagining of the books' world. Disappointed that some of it has to be smaller scale (especially re: the Dothraki hordes and Vaes Dothrak), but I think the characters are all done well. Lena Headey isn't as beautiful as Cersei is supposed to be, but she nails the bitchiness. The whole cast is pretty awesome, and I wonder how all these actors with what are currently bit parts will handle their much larger roles in future seasons. Brynden Tully might be combined with Edmure for the show, which makes me sadface. GRRM has said elsewhere that Renly and Loras are gay and if either were a POV character it would be immediately obvious. HBO just makes it explicit. I'm pretty certain the Howland Reed will be important because only he and Ned survived the encounter at the Tower of Joy. Although it should be obvious what they were guarding, as it doesn't make sense for three of the Kinsguard to defend Lyanna's captivity after the kingdom had fallen to Ned and Robert unless, well, that would head into spoiler territory. Nexus
There's rumours that they aren't going to kill one character off in the first series of GoT who dies in the book. Thoughts? It can only be Ned or Drogo now. I personally think that Ned definitely needs to die in Series 1, but Drogo might be able to survive. Realistically though, both must die. They might leave Ned until the first episode of Series 2 though Chewblaha: Feel free, I love the books. Oh, I also love Davos, I think he's a legend. Jaime is good as well, and I like Cersei when she's a PoV. Best casting? Joffrey. I hated the cunt from the moment he came on screen. BrainHurtBoy...2
Finished the books TODAY. Can't wait for DwD. Favorite Characters: Tyrion, Theon, Jon Snow.
Nexus
Dunno how anyone can like Theon, he's just a massive pussy /o\
Chewblaha
Book stuff: Theon will be back for Roose and Ramsay Bolton's heads! I don't think he'll try for the Seastone Chair, as Euron has that locked up. Though I think Theon is gonna straight up escape the Dreadfort and find Bran or Rickon and help take back the North. Just so he can kill Bolton himself. And yeah. I know that Jon is a Targaryen too, GOH. . Though I feel that Reed is gonna head up to the Wall to tell John himself about his mother and his father. Though I wonder that if Melisandre will find out about Jon's blood and request to Stannis to force him to be sacrificed in an attempt to raise the dragons from Dragonstone? Possible? Tv stuff: It's gotta be Ned next. Drogo will die in the final episode and we'll see the CG dragons nursing off of Dany. That will be the final shot, as it was in the book as well. With Jorah looking on in awe, and the last shot will be a vertical view of Dany's face. I really hope they don't merge Edmure with Brynden. Brynden deserves his own character. I know he was supposed to be in the Vale, but they just can't get rid of him. He's too awesome of a character.
Chewblaha
Best casting? Joffrey. I hated the cunt from the moment he came on screen. Best scene that Peter Dinklage deserves an Emmy for? I can't wait to see him die at his wedding.
Nexus
What're your opinions on Littlefinger being the one to tell Sansa about the Hound and his burns? I was annoyed, because I thought that it was a big part in the Hound/Sansa interactions.
BrainHurtBoy...2
I think it's indicative of the path they're going to take with the relationship on the show. I think they're developing the Littlefinger/Sansa relationship and not paying as much attention to Hound/Sansa, since they've said maybe two words to each other all season.
Nexus
But the Hound/Sansa relationship is so much better-Sansa/Littlefinger don't interact again until the second part of ASOS :/
Chewblaha
But their relationship goes only up to that scene where the Hound comes in after seeing the fire. That scene is the highest point of their relationship. Unless... The holy man who claims he buried Sandor was lying when he said he was dead. Or unless Thoros finds him and raises him back. Nexus
Yes but I think that scene is important to Sansa's character development. Plus, it leads to him telling Arya that he basically took advantage of Sansa, therefore angering her and such, stopping her from giving him mercy. I dunno. Mr. GOH!
WHAT?!?!!? No fucking way either Drogo or Ned can survive unless the survivor diesw at the beginning of the next season. As it stands, the show is further behind with the DOthraki segments, so I could see them postponing Drogo's death. But postponing either will severely fuck with the flow of the show; both are extremely important.
Can
Where does it say that they won't?
Nexus
I read a couple of rumours suggesting someone who dies in the book won't die in the film. The only two left are Ned and Drogo It might just be false rumours tbf. I can't find them right now.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Can you guys please care to mark book spoilers vs TV show spoilers?
Mr. GOH!
Can you guys please care to mark book spoilers vs TV show spoilers? Uh, the TV show spoilers are by definition also book spoilers and vice versa, unless you mean that stuff in old eps is no longer spoilable.
Mr W Phallus
I think Faiblesse means that he is up to date with the TV show - so he doesn't need to worry about spoilers there - but because he hasn't read the books he doesn't want to inadvertently read something that hasn't yet happened in the show. I would also appreciate this.

Chewblaha
I loved the actor they chose for the Greatjon. He is also one of my favorite minor characters. I cannot wait 'til the scene where he draws his greatsword and points it to Robb. That is the one I cannot wait for! For those of you who think he is an asshole for the way he opposes Robb, he's not. He is easily the strongest supporter of Robb and House Stark not named Howland Reed. Unless... unlesss.. NOOO.. BOOK- THEY MADE THE GREATJON INTO WHAT RICKARD KARSTARK BECOMES FOR THE TELEVISION SHOW!!!! If that happens. I'm going to picket every single one of of Martin's livejournal posts and tell him I hate him. I WILL DO IT.
