Those of you from way back when remember when I made 3000 threads dedicated to this. Well it's diff now. I'll be using the bracketeer list thing that Yants is using.

Here are the rules! You may embed TWO (TWO [TWO{!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]!!!!!!!) videos of the tracks that you want to enter the listing.

HOWEVER. If your song has had an HD remake or some cover/remix made, you may post a link to that video. do not embed the remix. only embed the original track. if your song came out on multiple platforms within two years, then you may post any rendition you choose as the original and post the others as links.

Example!

EARTHWORM JIM 2

The game came out for the Mega Drive in 12/95 but then released on other competing platforms within the year. So let's take the track "Dad's Tune" (Most people think it's named Forked) from the Saturn/PSX version.

Uhhh...since the video has been taken down, here's the level featuring the music.

That's the Saturn/PSX version, now here are the Genesis and SNES versions, respectively.

So you post your original track, then any other versions/remakes of it that you think should bolster your track's chances.

Remember! Post two! This thread will be used for posting/gathering nominees.

Let's goooo!

I'm sad to announce that the final boss theme of Yoshi's Island is no longer part of my top two. :(

ENTRY ONE!

One of my favorite tracks (if not my favorite) has always been Halo 2's "Heretic, Hero."

Whether you want to count this as part of it or not, but "Heretic, Hero" is actually an extended version of "A Walk in the Woods" from the first Halo soundtrack. "Heretic, Hero" got an extension in Halo 3, but it wasn't as good :|. So here's the link to "A Walk in the Woods."

ENTRY TWO!

I'm gonna go ahead and pick "Setting Sail, Coming Home" because it was just so well placed while having the game end. Great song.

Now there are a few covers I've heard that I absolutely love.

(One man cello band!)

I feel bad about leaving Yoshi's Island out.

I'm really gald someone else thought of this track. When this played was such a picturesque/surreal moment in the game. One of those few moments where a game really becomes an experience for me.

Also, not a real entry, but I have to include it:

YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!

I'd like to submit this:

and this:

I'm still upset this theme was not in MGS4 for legal reasons.

Also this but not really.

I couldn't find this listed under the main part of the Mass Effect 3 soundtrack on YouTube. I figured I'd go for a less obvious choice.

It's an abbreviated and slightly altered version of what I believe is the 'romantic' theme (I Was Lost Without You). I prefer the more direct approach it takes.

And...

FUCK YEAH!

Touhou has well over 150 tracks in canon, so I had to listen to Touhou music all day to narrow it down... then decided to scrap it and go with one of the most popular ones anyway. All in all, a good day!

Also in J-core(?),

and
versions, among many others...

Noriyuki Asakura is great too... I loved his work in the Rurouni Kenshin anime OSTs, but he also did the music for most or all of the Tenchu games. I cannot think of a better composer for a slow-paced ninja stealth game. It seems to have that perfect balance of "relax and take in the scenery" and "kill or be killed."

There's too much to choose from dammit. I've been thinking for a while since I saw this thread a few days ago... anyways:

UNO:

Ace Combat games has excellent soundtracks. It would be a shame to not see at least one on here.

I'll be back with a second one later...

DOS:

I believe I got the right BGM for a really specific part in EP3 of the visual novel. I choose this because... nah. Not going to spoil it for anybody who even have a spark of interest in the VN (or anime) but the image in the video gives away a ton. Overall, 07th Expansion VN has great BGM since they come on when they are needed. At the right time. When you get done reading a sentence and it comes on.
