And of course it wouldn't be me without the graphs! Apparently I kept my gaming pretty well spread out, there's a couple spikes but mostly it's right around 3/month. Obviously Playstation got all the love this year. I still have it divided between PS4 and PS5, but all of it was on my PS5, I just listed is as PS4 if it was backwards compatible instead of a native version. Next year I'm going to have to add Xbox in so I might stop making a distinction between current and last gen and just go by platform. PS4 and PS5 were pretty much tied for number of games, in fact PS5 had a slight advantage, but PS4 runs away with it in total playtime. That's because I played Mass Effect, Kingdoms of Amalur, and Surviving Mars all by backwards compatibility. Those three alone account for more than half of my PS4 playtime. It confused me that PC was so much higher than the rest, but then I looked and it's because I only beat two games on PC this year, Halo and Forza, and both were right around 27 hours. Apparently I leaned towards short games on PS5, and I think PSVR games in general are quite short, so that explains why that's so low. Next year I'm gonna put some green on the board!

It is done. My top 5 games from 2021. I'm still playing through Far Cry 6, which I don't see breaking the top 5 of this list. And I'm going to give The Forgotten City another chance in the coming days, so I may end up editing this list.....but if not, then here we have my top 5. Weird year. I don't 'love' any of these games. They're all good, some of them are great but I don't feel passionate about any of them like I might have done in previous years. That could well be more to do with my own state of mind than than the quality of these games however.

After skipping the last couple years, I actually gave enough of a shit to do my spreadsheet again this year! I think I even managed not to forget to log any games! Not that I played all that many compared to the ~50 or so I used to do in a year but it's certainly the highest it's been in a few years. Depression sucks lol. You can actually kinda see where I started getting better, now that I think about it hahaha. Only two games in the first 3 months of the year then around spring I got some good news and you can see the completion dates being closer and more frequent. 3-5 games a month is much closer to the pace at which I used to complete them. Looking at the list, I think some obvious goals for 2022 would be: continue working my way through Halo MCC so I can play Infinite keep trucking along in FFXIV so I can play Endwalker and I really need to go through the Yakuza series as well, since a friend bought me Yakuza: Like a Dragon for my birthday around October and I haven't touched Yakuza 3 in like two months... Oh and I need to play FFV if I'm to continue on to FFVI and, as was my initial plan, keep going through the series once I'm done with the Pixel Remasters... ....I want to play too many games. Maybe I should just go back to being depressed.

Horizon Zero Dawn Man, this game is a long one. I kind of expected to be in and out but no. Overall I do like it since fighting the machines is pretty ace. Fight humans though is much more vanilla. I actually do think it's a lost opportunity of not having any machines to climb on to kill, like Dragon's Dogma (my favorite open-worldish game). With that said, what is there is pretty solid. I can't wait to see what they do with the sequel. I do have some issues with the game: 1) Ammo. Stopping gameplay to restock on ammo all the time is not a good thing, at all. Somehow this really got to go. 2) All quests are active BESIDES the tutorials quest, which you need to toggle as your primary quest in order to complete it. This is kind of a bad oversight because I have done all the requirements for lots of these tutorials. I just frequently forget to toggle them to be my primary quest. All weapons have them so I guess I'll have fun with tutorial quests till the end game.

Glad you were able to get through/make progress with your depression! That is a solid list of games.

My game of the year is... the only 2021 release I played in 2021! Congratulations, Capcom!!!

HELL YEAH!! The mercenaries and Village of Shadows were the toughest ones, VoS can be a pain, specially in later sections, and the Pt2 stages for the mercenaries are just annoying, ended up looking at a guide and even that one was "if you don't get these skills immediately, just restart". Got the last two achievements on a final playthrough on casual, kinda easy as I had all upgrades for Ethan, and keeping only two guns in my inventory meant a ton of room for healing items. Glad I pushed through on the mercenaries, the weapon you get from that stuff is pretty fun.
