Some guy on another forum said his Sam Flynn came with two left arms lol. The QC on the 4" guys is all over the place. The light shines through the paint in some places. Some of the Sam Flynn heads look f'ed up. Arms and heads are snapping off, and like you said, they are $9-$10 apiece. The 4" line is pretty disappointing, the discs can't even snap on the backs! For people's money, the 8" line is really where it's at. Sam and Clu are great, and there is Rinzler and Black Guard too. Much better articulation and weight to the figures, the discs actually snap on the back, they are all made of plastic and no crappy paint jobs. The 12" guys are supposed to be really nice too but I haven't gotten mine yet, those guys have diecast weapons. Can't wait for diecast discs for Sam and Clu! edit: That's why none of my 4" figures are open yet. I'm going to open a set but I'm trying to make sure I get a good set first. Some of my figures are going back to the store, I wasn't aware of the QC issues at first. In some of the last pics you can see the detail on the black guard and how the paint doesn't come all the way up to the light, it looks terrible when lit up.

Yeah no doubt, they fucked Flynn up. Wait until you see Sam. The 4" line is overpriced and has major QC issues unfortunately. I normally don't get into the larger dolls at all but this is one line where I'm glad I did. The 8" dolls have some nice special effects (Sam and Clu) and the discs actually fit on their backs. I don't have any yet but the two 12" guys are supposed to be really well done. They have diecast weapons. The other good product is the diecast miniatures. They are like really high quality matchbox designs. I'm going to get several of the Kevin Flynn designs and paint them into old school light cycle colors. Matchbox light cycles are bad ass. I don't have any pics of it yet but today I got the Kevin Flynn 8 GB USB memory stick, shaped just like his diecast cycle. It does a lightcycle effect when plugged in and lights up, it's a really nice piece.

I've been buying Tron toys all week since I saw the movie finally. A little backstory before a pic flood, I grew up with the original TRON and was one of the lucky few that had TRON toys. My dad got me all four of the figures (Sark, Warrior, Tron and Flynn) and a red light cycle. I still have all of those, although my Tron was wounded early on when his head snapped off. I still have the head but it's been superglued back on so many times etc, so it's at my dad's house. He still has my lightcycle too. In the first couple of pics, you can see my three old figures sans Tron, and my newer lightcycle remake with smoke Sark new in box (limited to 10k pieces.) I'm going to add to my older figures collection but that's a good start. The rest of the stuff is newer Tron merchandise. I took these pics for another forum so I'm not going to geek out on explaining all the toys and shit here. But if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. In particular, the toy light cycles are really impressive (I don't have my Flynn retro one in yet but the other two are surprisingly bad-ass.) The other really impressive toys are the Deluxe Data Discs. There are three types, the Kevin Flynn white one is really clean looking and much harder to find than the other two. They all have some cool motion sound effects and lights, and you can 'clash' them together like real discs and it makes a sparkly sound. Really cool toys and look like nice display props too (they come with a stand.) On to the pics!

Alien 3 was another example of that, where the game was pretty different on each console.

Wow, I didn't know that till this day. I only knew one other person with a Sega CD and he wasn't really into RPGs. I had both of the Lunar Sega CD games, still do. Like you said the packaging was fantastic, used to love those old WD instruction books. I'll have to dig my game out and see which insert I ended up with.

Gamers today take for granted the nice dvd-style cases for their games, but growing up we got cardboard pieces of shit! Genesis changed that (for awhile.) Wish they had kept the original cases, they were so sweet. I liked a lot of Genesis games too, still do. The Ultimate Genesis collection for 360 is really good, a lot of great games in 720p.

I've only seen vids of the game but was intrigued enough to jump in before the Alpha closed just to secure a spot for future upgrades. Is there a 'game' in this game or is it just what you put into it? For some reason it seems intimidating to just jump in, I don't want to mess anything up lol

Super Meat Boy for $3.75 is a steal. Fantastic platformer and I've loved every bit of it on 360. Wanted to get the steam version for the user created content, at that price I don't mind double-dipping. Also grabbed Battlefield Bad Company 2 for $6.79 and Professor Winterbottom for $0.49.

Hmm I passed on that at Target due to average reviews. I might still be able to find a copy for $7.50 this week though... edit: got better reviews than I thought...I think for some reason I thought that was a 'Crystal Chronicles' type of side game. I'm gonna try and check it out, thanks.

Figures. This shit is too complicated. You assume someone knows what they are talking about and you end up talking about two different games. Anyway I haven't played it yet but I'm looking forward to it. Perhaps I should play it before FF IV?
-
Are you talking about FF III for the SNES USA? That's FF VI Japan and I agree. That's also my favorite RPG of all time personally. Unfortunately (for me, fortunately for those who never played FF III) the DS version is the real FF III, and not US FF III (which is really FF VI.) Fucking complicated man. I hope they redo FF IV/FF III US in this format for the DS, it would be my favorite game of all time. Not sure if you've seen them but they are essentially Playstation-esque remakes for the DS of FF III and FF IV (which is FF II SNES USA.) The graphics are on the level of a FF VII or a little better, somewhere between a PS and a PS2. Music is solid too, and the games make good use of the dual screens. I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen thus far. As for my favorite 16 Bit RPGs/SRPGs I'd rank them like this: FF III/VI Chrono Trigger Shining Force 2 Phantasy Star 2 and 4 Shining Force FF II/IV Phantasy Star 3 Unfortunately games were so expensive back then (and I was a kid, but these RPGs often went for $70+, PS 4 was $100 retail..) I didn't get to play as many RPGs as I would have liked. I missed out on a lot of the hidden gems of the era, but I enjoyed the major players greatly.

Phantasy Star 1 is still playable, but you need to print off some maps of the dungeons. They are murderous by today's standards, especially with the perspective. I remember mapping those dungoeons by hand back in the day, but the game is unplayable without maps. I'd never have the patience to do something like that nowadays. It's also HARD. Like, kick your ass hard. As far as old RPGs go, I recently got Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV on the DS. IV/II is obviously one of my favorites, and I've never played III, so I'm looking forward to both. Anyone have any comments or experience with these remakes? I've only played the beginning part of IV so far but the music is sooo good. Think IV is getting ready to come out on the PSP in Japan soon as well, but I don't have a PSP yet so I don't really keep up with it.

i loved all the phantasy stars, no love for 3 there? 3 was my favorite and it holds the distinguishing title of the first game i ever replayed the entire way through right away because i had to play it every way possible. i don't know if it's because i'm a girl or what but i really loved the whole having kids and playing as your kid thing. Funny thing, I actually love 3 as well but most people don't put it among the upper echelon of the RPGs. I spent a whole summer mapping and playing PS 3 and while I prefer 2, I hold a soft spot in my heart for 3. The music and graphics just seemed like the best thing I would ever see on my Genesis. The whole generations thing was neat to me as well, but ultimately I couldn't tell enough difference in each branch to play the game what, 15 times to see everything? In that respect, Chrono Trigger did the multiple playthrough/decision thing much better. But you're right, I shouldn't have glossed over PS3. It was a huge release and a fantastic game in its own right.
