do civ5 really need multiplayer? it takes a shitty long time to finish 1 singleplayer game :l

Does it have play by email? Older versions did. That might be better since games can go on forever. Or play smaller maps.

In a LAN setting, it's fun. Get drunk, discover a religion, then invade a nation, actually have UN style meetings with friends. Over the Internet...ehhhhhhh.
(Though I say this from Civ4, I don't know about Civ5)

Civ MP can have simultaneous moves, and if you make the world short enough n shrank the play time down it can go by fast enough. I used to have a habit of Epic maps on Marathon play times. Moved to Normal speed on medium maps and it became much more enjoyable. Less cities though.
