If Tennis for Two was the first video game ever, we have 54 years of video game history. Yet we still compare games to books & movies. You'd think that half a century would be enough to base your theories, comparisons and predictions on. But no, we act as though gaming started with current gen. *sigh*

I'm sorry, but indies is the reason gaming could be seen as a joke? Games like Minecraft, Dustforce and Red Orchestra?
NOT kids screaming racial slurs over xbox live playing the latest call of duty or battlefield?

I wouldn't see Minecraft as a joke, but I would see all the "Minecraft reviews" and Mojang themselves as a joke.

I think part of the reason for that is because gaming has been limited by technology in a way that books and even film never really were. It's only now that we're getting to where people can really do whatever they can imagine in games.
