  1. I dunno, there are races and building and junk- but breaking up the gameplay is still some simple Banjo-esque platforming fun. It's like they took the original forumula of the Banjo games, but made that the background and added a whole other game on top of it. I like it, and it still refers back to old Banjo all the time, and is totally true to the characters. Sure, they added a bunch of folk, but the ones from the older games are still there and unique as ever.
  2. Hey, I'd be up for some Banjo online. Althouth I'm about 10% into the game and I'm actually using my flatmate's copy. Still, I really really enjoy it..
  3. Like, the transition between floating about and slamming back down to Earth? How are the new Zero-G controls anyway, look like they've got lots of nice new horror prospects.
  4. Fair enough. I would say it depends on each individual- if one person in a couple was Muslim and the other Christian, what would matter imho is how they would interact over the issue. If one was fanatic for example, arguments would probably tear the pair apart because of the different opinions, and how stubborn one person, or both people, is/are. But if both are simply spiritual people, and their beliefs aren't so strong that they overlap, it shouldn't be too much of a problem even in the light of serious problems. Physically I've seen opposites attract, but in personality and temperament? Never seen those opposites together. There's always some kind of lynch pin between em. Me and my partner have got lots of similar interests, but just a couple that badly contrast.
  5. I'm a little bit worried about that with my gf. I'm primarily a thinking and discussing sort of person, whereas she's a chatting and funloving sort of person- and this relates to our interests. She likes pop TV like One Tree Hill, The O.C. (which, admittedly, I watch happily now), EastEnders etc., whereas I like more adult dramas like the Wire, Walking Dead, or Dexter- but I've turned her over to Firefly and she's turned me over to the O.C. It's all good. Musically she likes things that catch her attention- she barely listens to albums and makes playlists of fun songs. I, on the other hand, make a point of only listening to a band's albums, I like getting to know the music like the back of my hand and getting thoughtful enjoyment from it. But we both overlap- I appreciate a lot more songs and types of music and like dancing more since I've met her, and she's into a few things she'd never try if it wasn't for me. But games... She doesn't mind them- but I tend to rant about exciting ones, it's really important to me, and it's starting to annoy her. Tbh, over time she's really really starting to hate on it. A few arguments have started from my ranting about stuff she isn't interested in. And as you said, Yant, I'm worried/ fairly certain that we're going to be driven apart sooner or later because of our fundamentally different personlities and interests :/ Man, I got all serious on this shit!
  6. I definitely got that in Silent Hill 2 and in Amnesia. Silent Hill 2's got this great effect where it really feels like you're in an actual location, like the town actually exists somewhere in the world and you're out there walking around it's creepy streets. Guess that's what you get from real quality design in a game. Dead Space only disturbed me once or twice, mostly the game was just filled with tension as others have said. BUT Dead Space had one great effect that I haven't felt in any other horror/action game- after beating off hordes of enemies when the tension comes to a head, standing over the last one's corpse I actually feel really satisfied and exhilarated. I've had a few battles that have genuinely gone on for 5 minutes or so in the games harder modes, and when I've dealt the final hit to the last enemy, damn do I feel good. Can't believe I lost my 360 copy of the game... This demo is going to get downloaded so hard when I get back to the flat.
  7. About to have some mascarpone and vegetable spaghetti. You should've seen the Xmas dinner, oh man: bacon-wrapped large turkey, a bed of vegetables (carrot, potato, turnip, onion) with chorizo sausage and various spices, two trays of sausage meat and turkey stuffing, a ceramic dish of bread sauce, and another dish of cranberry and port chutney. Wine or beer or soft drink to wash it down. All consumed in a big warm country house in a snow-covered field. Christmas dinner off the starboard bow.
  8. Yeah I'm planning on getting it too, as soon as I'm back home after the holidays. However I thought I'd better ask the opinion of the ever-critical TAYpeeps- in case it's really not worth it.
  9. Brofist Brida! Yeah it seriously is possibly my favourite TV show- and this is from someone who loves adult junk like the Sopranos and The Wire and Mad Men. One of those kids shows which are funny and enjoyable for all ages, but suddenly out of nowhere there will be a totally goddamn sick adult moment that make all the adults in the room laugh, and all the kid's heads whip around and they ask why adults are laughing, who can't answer because it's a subtle adult joke. The escapades of Finn the 12 year old Dungeons and Dragons style adventurer, and Jake the 28 year old dog with the magic yellow coat (voiced by the same guy who does Bender) never cease to amaze and thrill. Anyway, off topic. It's nice to meet everyone anyway!
  10. Hiya chums, Upon reading an article on Hydrophobia in an issue of Edge ages ago, I was pretty interested in the game- if mostly for it's approach to DLC gaming. But of course, it turned out to be pretty flawed in it's interface and design, and critically it got pretty average reviews. Has anyone played the oober-update Hydrophobia Pure? Sure looks like it has made the title a lot more playable and funs. Here's Dark Energy Digital's blog post on it: http://www.hydrophobia-game.com/pure.php
  11. Evenin' boys, My name's Alex, though most acquaintences call me Shed, and my general account name is Kenshi_Ryden. I mostly play 360, though I also play a lot of PS3 and PC (my flatmate's fairly powerful laptop). I'm from Edinburgh in Scotland, and I'm at Uni there studying English Language and Literature. Games are my real passion. I've been on Kotaku for a good while now, a couple of years, and only within the last week or two have I become aware of these fine forums. Then after joining, I managed to miss the move to these new spanky premises. Woe.
