I don't know enough about the comics to have this movie ruined for me, I'm looking forward to it. Now, if we were talking about Walking Dead, I'd tell you how fucking terrible the show is because it rapes the comics.

I love DOTA. I played the WC3 edition for years, moved on to HoN and then LoL. Can't wait to dominate in DOTA 2. But god damn DOTA sucks when your teammates are clueless.

I average about 2 books a week. Yeah, I read a lot (compared to most, anyway.) On The Walking Dead, I hate the show. Can't stand it. I've read every comic and honestly, if you adore the comic like I do then you'll probably just get pissed off when you watch the show. I can't view it from an objective perspective because I'm unable to tell if it's not a very good show or if I don't like it because it's drastically different from the comic. Every episode I watch I just sit there going "no wait, that's not what happened, what the fuck stop ruining my favorite comic" and end up getting angry.

I still need to see it. My favorite series so far is GitS: SAC, but my friend just went through Evangelion and said it was great so I'll probably watch it next.

I find it hard to discuss anything Japanese with a serious face.

It supports video now, but it started as a VOIP service. You can use it as a voice-chat program in-lieu of Ventrilo or buy skype minutes to call real phones using your computer mic. Unlike Vent, you constantly transmit with skype and have a much lower latency. It's perfect for small groups of 2-4 people, reaaaaallly bad for 10+ people trying to raid or something.

Okay, that was a good one, can't really defend against it. But I'm ready for the next one for sure. -

FF13 defense force to the rescue! -
I'm very minimalistic, and a huge proponent of the digitalization of games, movies, music, etc. For example, when I first got my Kindle I donated 4 full shelves of books to my local library. Some I didn't want anymore anyway, but everything that I still cared to peruse or re-read I have stored on my Kindle, taking up zero shelf space. I do the same thing with my music. I don't buy CD's anymore (unless it's Coheed and Cambria, I do have a shrine I need to add to now and then). Instead when I purchase music I download it online (Always in 320khz or better. .flac is prefered, of course). Again, same with my games. I have over 250 games on my steam account (that's a lot of cardboard boxes saved from the trash bin) and I buy digital versions of games instead of their boxed editions as often as I can. Because of this I really don't have much to store, but what physical media I do have is simply lined up on the shelf above my desk. There are some things that I treasure enough to own physical copies of (season box-sets of Babylon 5 for example), but again, most of what I own is digital these days.

[SPLIT] Bad Localizations - Why Do We Care?

The Persona 4 American localization is probably one of my favorites. I like to use it as an example of a localization that's done really well and not "just good enough to get the point across." What I really like about it is that you can tell some bits of dialogue probably had slightly different meaning in the Japanese version, but they managed to translate it without butchering it. There are also parts where it's obvious that a joke in the Japanese version couldn't easily be translated while keeping the humor (perhaps for cultural reasons). In those cases the localization team sort of went out of their way (I mean, they're job is to localize the game, but so often it's apparent that most teams are "phoning it in") to make jokes make sense to the American audience, and where they couldn't they just made their own jokes that perhaps shared some of the humor from the Japanese version, but re-written enough that it's actually funny (sometimes in a very ironic fashion) to the American audience. The voice acting is pretty great too. -
This thread has inspired me. When I get home from work today and tomorrow I will play it on the stream.

I also noticed that game missing from this list as I went through it. Perhaps there is an updated version floating around /v/ that I could pick up.

This is a cool image I found awhile ago while browsing /v/. I've played a loooot of PC Games and I had some fun going through the picture and finding what I had and hadn't played. Maybe you'll have some fun exploring the list as well. I modified the image with checkmarks for my own amusement and I'll post both the vanilla and "Jala" versions here. Unfortunately the list isn't up to date in regards to 2011, but oh well. GREEN CHECKMARK: Completed the game(For multiplayer-centric games (or games like The Sims) that technically can't be completed I used this mark if I had spent more than 10 hours playing) YELLOW CHECKMARK: Played for more than 1 hour, but didn't complete RED CHECKMARK: Never played/less than 1 hour played Jalafied Vanilla

I just skimmed the article but all I got from it was, "I used to play videogames with the music on all the time. Now I no longer find it necessary for the music to be turned on for me to enjoy a game." But it's to be expected that people would misconstrue such a post. I also might be totally wrong in my interpretation of his post anyway, because I only skimmed it

I used to use ATI and AMD. But then they got terrible. AMD isn't so bad, they're just not as good as Intel these days if you have money to spare. And even though ATI cards are powerful, they still have driver issues. So I just stick with my nVidia. A GTX260 is all you need to run anything at max these days so I won't be upgrading until the next console generation.

I adore Persona 3 and Persona 4. Those are the only SMT games I've ever played though, and there seems to be quite a few so I'm not really sure what to play next. I'd rather avoid the bad ones (of which I get the impression there are quite a few).

You can find me logged on as NULL. I /never/ play my 360 though. Actually, it's packed up in my closet. If you ever see me on Live it's because I'm playing a PC game with GFWL
