The University of California regents have announced an incentive pay raise... one day after they announced budget cuts. And people still wonder why California's educational system is going down the crapper.

They're trying to motivate their teachers more with this pay raise, aren't they?

An increase in the effectiveness of teachers doesn't seem all that much when the amount of students that can attend higher education is steadily falling. Around here, if you aren't accepted into the UC, you go to CalState, and if not that, then the community colleges, both of which have accepted beyond their normal standard for applications this year due to the sheer amount of students that applied and the decreasing number of available professors.
