  1. For those asking for screens: https://twitter.com/SixTwoSixFour/status/295982040594132993 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/28239108/deanchatlog12813.odt This is the chatlog Six gave me after they had their fight. I decided to keep it just in case anyone was curious why he left.
  2. Guys, Barry Bonds is only 7 points. Thursday, you could probably choose him over the chick, unless you consider him an offensive person.
  3. So, it was a nice suprise when my MIS teacher showed an episode of Extra Credits (spectrum crunch) to our classroom. Does anyone have any other suggestions for not explicitly gaming related episodes?

  4. Finally got around to beating SOTC. Fuck you, water/colosseum boss. Even getting to the former was a pain in the ass. Like, a solid minute of swimming. Other than a few hard bosses, I really enjoyed the game. The ending was masterful, especially.

The eel was tough at first, but (at least to me) you get the hang of it. Sometimes the solutions can be this hassle to figure at first, whereas other times it's right in front of you, but the Colossus fights back.

The eel is terrifying - moreso than any other. Because it's so fast, and you can't see it most of the time and the camera angle pans out to show you helpless in the water. It's not the hardest of the colossi, but it's the one I was most nervous fighting.

I was actually talking about the turtle'ish thing. The one that forces you to get on it, hit it's head stones, jump back off, and somehow guess that it will use a new attack to reveal a previously unseen weak point.

  5. I'm having trouble getting our Speaker system to work with my mother's laptop. I have an HDMI to (whatever the fuck the laptop uses) device, and it works with the TV without the sound system, but I'm not entirely sure what to do here. I may just have to give up and ask Geek Squad for help, god forbid.

You should be worried about laptop FROM and not to the laptop. DVI and VGA don't do sound.

Get a 3.5mm to RCA cable, plug that from laptop headset into speaker systems aux-in. FDS is right, if it's not HDMI on the laptops end then it won't do sound output.

  6. I just got Netflix again. Any Movie/TV Show recommendations would be cool.

This Netflix thing is sounding mighty shitty.

P4, did you just casually throw Brick in with some TV shows? Either way, YES!

  8. Lego Marvel Super Heroes announced. Let the hype train begin. I wonder if the characters will be voiced like in Lego LOTR?

They also said that they saw how well Lego Batman 2 was received, and said something along the lines of having nailed the formula, which is having voice acting. Which they did with Lego LOTR. So expect all Lego games in the future to have VA.

Been watching it. Harry Potter is on there right now.

  12. http://vglens.com/20...hing-this-year/ Although the website is down now because of Reddit, it's supposed to have some legit info. I'll update when it's back up. Edit: It's up. As FDS says below, nothing really interesting to be gleaned other than what's said in the headline. Although with Valve, I kind of doubt that it will come out this year without delays.
  13. http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/15d7p3/amazon_digital_holiday_sale_xmas_eve_update_inc/ Amazon is destroying Steam on a couple of sales. Be sure to check them also before buying a Steam game. This is why competition is great.

  15. If someone as talented as Peter Molyneux failed to meet claims a quarter as huge as what these previously unheard of guys are doing, I find it incredibly hard find faith that this will come to fruition. At least, in any form not absolute garbage.
  16. The World Ends With You A legitimately fun RPG which probably has some of the best JRPG combat in any game I've ever played. Really unique in the ridiculous amount of systems you had to keep track of, and a really nice cast of characters. I even got attached to some of the humans with very little bearing on the plot. My favorite character in the game had to be Beat. I just really enjoyed his dialogue. The art style was pretty unique and interesting, and the cut scenes and voice-overs helped me to get immersed into the story. The music is really hit or miss, in my opinion. I couldn't stand the opening menu music, for example. I liked most of the lyrical stuff, though.

  18. Word on the street is that people with access to the November NPD say that PSASBR has only sold about 90 thousand copies on both systems combined. I wonder how much truth this rumour holds, and it it is true, what exactly it means? (That's not counting downloadable purchases btw.)
  19. If it means anything, I've never had issues with Motion Joy with all the experience I've had using it.
  20. There is only one possible game to meet all of these expectations. All DLC included, of course. Your move, Secret Santa-er.
  21. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/11/30/the-walking-dead-assault-impressions.aspx " Assault removes the “who can I trust” aspects and general suspense from Kirkman’s yarn, and replaces it with shotguns, headshots, and collectible stars." This is probably the first time in which I lost complete respect for developers within a single sentence.
  22. I recently finished watching an old episode of Game Grumps, while usually only offering funny commentary, will sometimes offer some interesting opinions on game design. The conversation went a bit as follows: "So, I was recently asking people on Twitter what they thought of Dishonored and they said "It's good, but it's a bit short." I don't get that! I mean, so many games just run way longer than they need to be. Can you think of any 60 hour game that has unique content every single part of the way, without making you backtrack through the game area, or repeat types of content? I think games need to not overstay their welcome." I found this quite interesting, as I had never really thought of a game being long anything but a pretty good thing, as most of the internet also does. It seems almost like a quality/quantity sort of thing, in which a game can get much worse if the developers put too much padding into it, in order to put "30+ hours!" on the back of the box/steam page. Gravity Bone is probably a great example of a very, very short game that may not have worked at all if it was too long, and Devil May Cry 4 could be an example of a game that suffered mostly due to padding. I understand how some people buy incredibly long games just because they want to have something to do for quite a while, but I think the practice really doesn't fit a lot of games, and really hurts the industry as an artistic medium. What do you guys think? Do you tend to not buy games if they don't have enough playtime, or are you more suited to shorter, more fulfilling experiences?
  23. It just seems pretty silly to me that the agreed upon way of making a good female character is to just write a character as a man, then switch it out. What's even the point after you do that? I mean, blank slates are hardly good characters in the first place. They are literally just a model that moves. One could hardly even call it a "character". Also, "strong" pretty much equates to "being a man", right? That seems pretty unusual to me.
