Y'ever notice that "w" is called a double-"u" even though it looks more like a double-"v"?

In France it's double-v... that's probably why the English changed it.

In Mexico both work, depending on how people write it.
If you put W you say doble v, some people write it as uu (well, you can imagine how it looks like ) and then you pronounce it doble u. -
