  1. Your map is ace: the UK looks like ET with a hard-on. Joe
  2. My Chrome has started "not responding" every few days in the last few weeks but it's still my favourite. It is also a complete nightmare on the xbox website for me where I get into an infinite login loop. But I just use the IE tab plugin and it's fine. The only thing I miss from Firefox is the cooliris plugin where you could hover over any link and it would make a popup preview of the page without leaving the current one. Google does it now on its search page but not for normal sites. I did want to like Opera as I think it is very innovative but it is just hard work to use and impossible to get rid of. Joe EDIT: I use both Chrome and firefox in beta so was keen to try the IE 9 beta but it wouldn't even load. I think we're spoiled expecting betas to be flawless now!
  3. Actually you did build a wall between England and Wales. Also, I have no clue what you're talking about in the spoiler tags? I'm imaging latex... Joe
  4. Reminisce, possibly with a manly tear in your eye, about games you were looking forward to but were cancelled or not released in your territory (a perennial problem for us EUers). I ask because I just had a thought about Sadness for the Wii which looked really interesting. Not sure I ever believed it would see the light of day to be honest so I wasn't surprised it got cancelled (the company went bust) but they managed to string us along for several years on a piece of music and about three concept art pieces - not bad going! Joe
  5. I hope fragile moon is good - I just ordered it so I'm blaming you, claudioiphigenia if I've wasted my money! I remember it looked interesting before it came out then I totally forgot all about it. Someone on Amazon's reviews said it was like a cross between Zelda and Silent Hill, and if that doesn't make you want to buy a game I don't know what would! Joe
  6. lol, you make it sound like Wales is a cancer on England. That's Scotland.
  7. I can't believe you have to rebuy content. Obviously I wouldn't expect everything I already bought to work on it but this is the kind of online cluelessness Nintendo gets a battering over. Joe
  8. I think I mixed up RockyRans post about the dates. I thought it didn't make sense. I think the problem I have with the creature is the mix of the different animal types then there's the fur and feathers and the spears sticking out of it. Then you have the cute face which is ruined by the stubby horn things. I think there is just to much going on with it. After the brainstorming sessions they should have crossed some of the ideas out instead of putting them all in! Joe
  9. plus if it's a recording we can hack it up to make people say naughty/incriminating things! Joe
  10. If you only want to post in one thread of the welcome forum, make it the What do you look like thread! Joe
  11. I never played the first two games*, and am totally excited for the HD collection of them - they'r the reason I was disappointed my PS3 didn't have backwards compatibility. As for the new game I know this is really shallow, but the fact the creature is so ugly kinda makes me not like it. I'm hoping playing the first two will get me psyched for the third. Joe P.S. From reading this thread it sounds like the third game is released before the collection. That sounds really backwards to me and is surely not the way to maximise sales of either game. *I know they are not technically a series.
  12. I voted Link's Awakening. It was the first one I played and it was so different to anything I'd played before. I was just blown away that you were playing in a proper world. Don't know if I could say it is the best but it is my favourite. Do you guys generally prefer the game you played first? Joe
  13. I wish I could be sensible and wait for the lite version as I think it looks atrocious as it is. The other problem I have is I keep looking at the pre-order pages and just cannot see a game I want to pre-order with it. I dunno. I definitely will get one as I've never been disappointed with a Nintendo console yet and I do genuinely love the idea of 3D. I have so many DS games to get through I may try and stay my impulses and wait but there are some pretty good pre-order deals around. OMG seriously I cannot decide and it is tearing my soul apart.
  14. That trailer looks a bit combat heavy. I was hoping for a bit less of that as it was the reason I gave up on GTA IV. Joe
  15. Thanks. I tend to just hit the title of the thread or the last page number. I guess I should start using the features that make life easier. Joe
  16. I can see which threads have new posts in them (there icons are darker), but when I click on that thread is there a way to tell which of the posts are new? Thanks, Joe
  17. I use spotify, but don't bother with playlists as I only really use it to listen to individual songs. E.g. if I hear something on a TV advert. Or if I like a few songs by an artist I'll see if the album is worth buying (on CD!). If I want to remember an artist for the future I'll star the song of theirs I like. I will have a listen to those playlists though to see what kotakuites tastes are like - I hope there isn't to much metal though The old kotakuites playlist is just the vampire weekend album :/ I guess that's the problem with collaborative stuff. People can ruin all your hard work. Maybe it can have a rule where you can take one song off and add one on? Joe
  18. I think it's the charm I missed from Fable II. I felt it was going to have a British-game charm a la Simon the Sorcerer. I couldn't put my finger on what I didn't like about it before but you articulated it for me. Thanks! I have the Lost Chapters version of the first Fable and I usually don't like playing a series backwards as you tend to notice all the things that were improved for the sequel that you mightn't have noticed if you played them in order. Sounds like it may be worth giving Fable: TLC a go though. I liked the Zelda-esque gameplay of Darksiders, but the tone was way off for me. One of the things I like most about Zelda is its 'safe world charm' even when Link is in mortal danger, it is sort of Disneyfied danger like the baddies don't really want to hurt you. I think I just like my gaming PG-friendly! I'm hoping Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom will be good for me (though I'm assuming it lacks the Nintendo humour).
  19. I know it's not English as such. But I hate that UK is dd/mm/yy whereas US is mm/dd/yy. Obviously if the date is higher than 12 it's not a problem but who on earth knows what date 03/04 is when you read it on the internet. It's such a stupid thing to have to think about and I bet causes more genuine problems than the Millennium Bug ever did. EDIT: the plaster between the wall and the ceiling: no one's mentioned the term coving?
  20. I'm waiting for the GOTY edition to come out before I buy it since I didn't love Fable II and only liked it. Actually thinking about it it was one of my biggest gaming disappointments as I really wanted it to be a Zelda fix for the xbox to justify my purchase of the console. Joe
  21. thsnks. I thought that would be the case but I didn't want to find out the hard way.
  22. CyanogenMod isn't supported on my phone (a ZTE Blade - which is awesome: 480*800 amoled screen for £90!) but they're working on it. At the moment I am using Japanese Jellyfish which is 2.2 though anything was a welcome improvement over all the evil orange bloat that came with it. Can anyone answer a question for me: if I pay for an app on the market is it linked to my google account so, if for example I install a new ROM or even buy a new phone will I be able to redownload the paid app or will I have to buy it again? Thanks, Joe
  23. I'm still waiting for blu rays to come down in price - they are just completely stupid so I only have a couple I got as presents. I don't have many DVDs as I only buy ones I know I'll want to watch again and that I get a warm fuzzy feeling from owning. Most films - even if I enjoyed watching them I would be happy just with "Oh, that's on TV tonight I might watch that again". So, I have about two shelves full. I don't know how many that is! Joe
  24. What did you guys like Lee Pace in? I've only seen him in Pushing Daisies - which I LOVE. Also, his middle name is Grinner. I do believe that to be thoroughly awesome.
  25. That Rabbids mini game sounds pretty LOL. I know it's a remake but I loved A Boy and His Blob. It is completely charming and has the perfect pace and challenge in a game for me. Joe.
