    A friend of mine got a virus. What's a good firewall he should use in the future?

      Yeah, basically all a firewall does for viruses is prevent one from outside your computer finding a network vulnerability and installing itself that way. It doesn't stop you from getting viruses from things you've downloaded, or from flash drives, etc.

      I'd say surf with Opera when possible; scan stuff with Kaspersky, Avast or Avira. Also, loading webpage plugins only on demand may help a little.
