Boston is an odd place. Massachusetts as a whole is a riddle wrapped in an enigma contradicting itself. It's very liberal and yet very conservative at the same time.

Yeah, and the hours of operation don't seem to effect Boston's status as a party city, because places were absolutely packed... And rowdy as hell. The outside of our hotel there saw 3 separate brawls on a single block brewing at the same time; right after 2pm. They might actually benefit from moving to the 4am model that NY (and I) subscribe to... Let these people wear themselves out or something.

@Battra I had a hard time putting my finger on that myself. I had always heard jokes about it being a bit minority-unfriendly over there, and even had a couple of experiences that might support that, yet the place seemed pretty darned ethnically diverse to me. Maybe just the Chinatown area is like that?... I don't know. It is a strange place though. Very nice despite s few minor gripes and confusing/conflicting features.
