Bought Legend of Mana on PSN. My brain has melted and is currently oozing out my ear. That game confuses me in ways no other game can even come close to.

FLD, Legend of Mana is the one on PSOne and it's a completely different game. It's by far the weirdest in that there's no central story but rather a thousand tiny stories, and the gameplay structure is a bunch of sidequests vaguely strung together.
It's a cool experimental game, IMO. It's just...weird. Very confusing because like Malicious said, you just "play". I know it sounds like it's a bad game on paper, but it's fascinating. This is the clo...

Ah okay, yeah I just searched a bit and I was thinking of Tales of Phantasia.
Still, what you described sounds... intriguing. If it's only 5,99$ like most PSOne Classics, it might be worth a look.
