      Welcome back to civilization.

  2. Does anyone use chat anymore? I miss this forum. But I haven't been playing enough games recently to start a discussion. What's everyone else been playing?

I've beaten Dishonored and Deus Ex. But I was a dumb-dumb and traded them in. The GOTY seemed awesome. I don't think I can get all Shine Sprites. Those non-Fludd levels always stumped me!

Glad to hear things are going well and are hopefully slowing down! I just started a new job a couple weeks ago. My last job was running me into the ground as I was 24/7 tech support after my boss had left. I moved and am getting used to the area, so I haven't played much.

  3. A really close friend of mine is turning 21 this month and I want to get her something special. Any suggestions, X-peeps?

Hahahaha, thanks guys. All replies were fantastic. I've decided on a great gift that I'm sure she'll love. But Revanchist also has a very nice (if old-fashioned-sounding) plan.

You got her a chocolate companion cube, didn't you. That is a great idea ChiltonGaines, nicely done! :D

  4. L'Arc~en~Ciel World Tour show in Madison Square Garden tonight!! I've been waiting so long for this!

Yeah, Fuchi, Hyde can definitely still kick ass. This makes the third time I've seen him live, and he always has put on a fantastic show. It was great. They did a good mix of songs and gave us their all, and the crowd returned their effort.

...I meant what rules does he use for drinking. That's what Super Smashed Bros is :) I haven't found a good set of rules yet. They all have you drinking too fast, too slow, or are too complex.

The actual rules I play SSMBM by: No items, infinite lives, big blue. Never played Super Smashed Bros before.

  6. Since I got my iPhone 4S, I've barely been using my computer. Between that, work, and Skyrim, it feels hard to just whip out my computer specifically to talk to the cool X-Talk bros. Why is that iPhone app a lie?!

The App is pretty temperamental. Sometimes it works fine, other times it doesn't work at all. It can't view Status properly either, or allow you to add Status or comment. Updating Threads is fine, and the Notifications work to an extent, they just don't always clear.

  7. Good Christmas as far as gaming! Got Deus Ex, Uncharted 2, Skyrim, and AC: Revelations!

  8. Does anyone know anything about fighting sticks (and the purchase therof)? Especially HORI? My brother requested one for Christmas, and while I won't be able to get one in time, I could still get it for him.

I dont know that much about it, but Amazon would be a good place to start. Just read reviews.

  9. My MGS HD collection ain't playing any sound. Anyone know anything about that? Google turns up zilch. Too busy with Skyrim? I guess I'll go sit in the corner....

Maybe check your audio settings for the console. Do you have HDMI? Maybe unplug and plug back in?

Check the volume settings in the game menu. One time on me for some reason the voices volume got turned all the way down on AC:B. Took me forever to figure out that was the problem.

  10. Anyone know where you can watch The Walking Dead free online? Missed a few eps, and tried to stream them and got hit with a virus that almost fucked me completely.

Guys why torrent? All you have to do is type "watch the walking dead online' in google, and the very first few links give a bunch of megavideo/videobb and more video links

Why torrent? 720p and surround sound. Also, I can start the download and forget about it for a few days/hours/whatever the time period is until I actually watch it.

THANK YOU, Excel. And Jesus, that's exactly what I did and exactly how I got a virus that ended with me almost having to restore my comp to factory default. Thanks to FDS and P4 as well.

  12. Got a job now (YES!) so time to start saving up, 'cause the L'Arc~en~Ciel playing at Madison Square Garden will be one of the illest moments of my life!

  13. I did like a few of them, because they could help to create what I would consider a 'smooth' playthrough or helped create some tension (trying not to lose health). Infiltrating an area without being spotted can make for a nice challenge. But a lot of them work to the detriment of the game, highlighting the flaws. And it is especially unforgivable when there is no logic behind it, since the '100% sync' title implies that is what Ezio did. Why did he not kill any guards at this particular moment? And why are fists suddenly lethal anyway? Why did he not swim? And that's not even going into the errors like bugs or controller flaws (I was telling Johnny about a Romulus lair with just climbing, where I followed the exact control hint it popped up and yet Ezio willfully leapt to his death). I'm all for 'alternative/optional difficulty' if it is implemented well, but the game has far too many cases of it being there 'just because...', with no extra thought I wouldn't say it's because they were trying to justify a price but it was a case of getting multiple teams to try and sew together so many various elements that the end result just feels disjointed. There's plenty of content there, but it doesn't always feel relevant to the ongoing story. Nothing is driving it forward, so to speak. That's fair. And the machines WERE rough to control, except for the tank, imo. And I got a bit pissed with the controls at points as well, believe me.

  17. Man, still gotta finish Cryptum and Halo: Evolutions
  18. I dunno. I don't really understand the complaints about things like side missions or Fully Sync requirements. All of the extra stuff you could do was a great addition to the game! I liked how my brother breezed through the story mode in a day or two, meanwhile I spent time finishing all of the guild challenges (some of which were annoying), getting all the treasures, finishing all the shop quests, beating all of the contract assignments, courtesan, thief, and merc missions, killing all of the templar agents, doing all of the virtual training (wanted to see Ezio as MGS4 Raiden), buying all of the weapons and paintings, doing all of the Memories of Cristina, fully renovating Rome, clearing all of the Romulus lairs, destroying all of Leonardo's war machines, and getting all my assassins AND training them all to assassin rank. There was a load of stuff to do. All of it may not strike your fancy, but they've definitely banished the complaints of the first installment's gameplay being to boring and repetitive. Some of the full-sync requirements were retarded, but some were challenging on purpose. I mean, context wise, I suppose they don't make much sense, but if you have a limited amount of time to reach some guy to save his life, and the direct path to him cuts across a decently sized body of water, isn't it more challenging to find a way to arrive at him without touching the water? The full-sync stuff seemed to be more of a test of how good you are at the game, right? And whenever I failed them, I failed them. It's not like it affected your gameplay or the story really at all. If you succeeded at getting 100% full-sync on certain memory sequences, you'd get cheats to activate. 'Sides, I got that full-sync cheevo easy. There's at least a handful of easy missions where you can do it. So I don't see how it was shoe-horned in to "justify" a price, especially seeing as since the $60 is industry standard, as long as it has about as much content as the average game, they don't need to justify anything and it'd still likely get bought. Only time they need to start justifying is if they royally screw up and piss a majority of people off. As far as the stealth thing, I thought about that too as I played, but then again, they ARE assassins. I mean, there are plenty of times (in the last Romulus lair for example) that you get spotted AND called out ("ASSASSINO!") regardless of what you do, and you still succeed and get away, but if that weren't so, gameplay would be dick hard, but for the most part, I think assassin is a pretty stealthy occupation. I too, however, tire of Ezio. But got a hearty laugh from this post-game interaction between him and his good friend. SPOILER for post-game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btmgak1MGcE
  19. For some reason, aside from the genre of hip-hop, I ignored the notion of a remix. But I've been getting into them lately. I think this one is pretty good!
  20. Got Dark Souls, woo! Gonna play AC:Brotherhood, woo!

  21. I both like and dislike that the beta is one mode. I dislike it because I'd have liked to try some deathmatch or something else besides Rush. I like it because if they'd given me the option to try deathmatch, I probably would have NEVER tried Rush. And I found myself liking Rush when I was doing well, which was occasionally. I had some minor issues, which may or may not have been me sucking. I think it was dumb that the laser sight paints a huge red line on the ground. Mind you, this is when someone was using it against me. It's just silly. I found it sort of hard to see people, but that's probably because I didn't have a scope and the map was massive. I found that if you didn't shoot a guy within a second of spotting him, you're dead, but that may have been what other people were saying about an early advantage. I found it hard to distinguish between my enemies and my allies occasionally when I was going sort of quickly, but I'll say that's definitely my fault. Halo's team colors spoiled me! It is ridiculously easy to hide in plant boxes. Like everyone else said, the during spawn weapon/option switch thing was bogus. COD had it right about getting your gear set up. I loved the movement and vaulting and stuff! As my brother said, "Mirror's Edge with guns!" Overall, I was having fun with it, but it probably could be tweaked. I was playing on 360, by the way.
  22. I can't afford Dark Souls, so I'm going to have to sit there watching my brother enjoy it.
  23. Shadows of the Damned, and probably have that beat today (enjoying it; definitely a worthy cheaper purchase), so I'll start up either the first Uncharted for the 1st time, or Assassin's Creed Brotherhood after that.
  24. Speaker for the Dead is really, really good. Not to get into a thing but it really sort of beat me up that Card could write so beautifully about relationships but is against homosexuality and junk. Anyways.... I just finished a book called The November Criminals, by Sam Munson. The whole book is a story this senior in high school tells about the recent events in his life (being a drug dealer, his relationship with this girl he knows, etc.) in response to an essay question on the application to University of Chicago. Despite the fact that that premise is kind of bogus on that idea alone (definitely not getting into a college when you write a novel in response to an essay question, and say things like "Fuck you, ladies and gentlemen." to the people who are reviewing your application), but it was pretty decent. Now reading The Magicians, by Lev Grossman. Seems pretty good so far.
