I'm the same way and I think most people were disappointed with Rage because they expected more freedom than the game delivered.

But yeah, the story isn't particularly mind-blowing but it was interesting enough for me. It just doesn't really have a proper ending. The gunplay is where the game really shines. Some of the most satisfying shooting I've experienced this gen.

I didn't like Rage because the shooting was shit. You can have all the story and freedom you want, but if the moment-to-moment gameplay is no good then it doesn't matter.

Eh, I thought the shooting was fantastic. Some of my favorite moments were blasting mutants with a shotgun in the sewers.
