So, Arkham City got me in quite the bat-mood. And instead of digging into the fuckton of Batman comics I downloaded a while back, I downloaded the entirety of Batman: The Animated Series, the one from 1992. I remembered liking it as a kid, but not much else other than people generally referring to it as being THE Batman cartoon. So far I have to say it's pretty damn good! The gothic/art deco aesthetics and minimalistic art style really help make it feel timeless. And it probably help...

Yeah, NML is really good. Never read Cataclysm. Hush and The Long Halloween are also very good reads.

Oh damn, missed your first reply between my two comments. I don't know, I just didn't really enjoy Azrael's stint as Bats. I mean... just look at this monstrosity! http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/8190/235670-139696-azrael_super.jpg
Also, Long Halloween is probably my favorite Batman story so far.

I know it looks dumb, but that was sort of the idea. Azrael goes over the top and then that severly undermines Gordon's trust in the idea of Batman (since he knows it is not the same person). A lot of the elements from Knightfall play into No Man's Land as well.
