This is what I feared, for the show to die a horrible death rather than be cancelled while it was still good.

Doesn't bode well. I might have to pull a Simpsons and just pretend the rest of the seasons just don't exist.

Yeah, I'm still going to keep watching and hope for the best. But something like this is rarely a good sign Frank Darabont "leaving" The Walking Dead comes to mind as a similar example...
