You're clinging to a false dichotomy created by a marketing campaign before most of today's gamers could READ. Super Mario World has zero bearing on consideration of Sonic 3. None. Remove yourself from the context of antiquity and draw your conclusions from the contents and quality of the media itself. Jesus. Old Sonic games were rad.

Sonic and Sonic-like games just never clicked with me. Kind of the same with Donkey Kong. Back when I was a kid I could hardly play through them. It haven't changed.
