Im loving my Macbook. I hate trackpads with all my being, but the trackpad on this thing is amazing.

I think Windows trackpads are far too varied to generalize unless you're talking about pinch zoom. Synaptics sorta set the standard, but I have an Alps(?) from about 9 years ago with an adjustable scroll zone on the side and bottom. Some have a "close window" spot in the corner too. Palm-detection has also been standard for ages.

It's not the features its the quality. Palm detection, swiping/gesturing, etc, has always worked far better on Apple trackpads than Synaptic ones. Hell, I had to install a third party driver to make the one on my current laptop anywhere near usable because the original synaptic drivers are such shit.

Guess I've been lucky enough to pretty much never see the bad ones then... The ELAN in my netbook also works flawlessly. The only PC touchpad I'd really say was bad was in my OLPC XO-1 and that thing is literally unusable at times.
