In my game, I think it was a "Volkihar Vampire" that killed the dragon. So after that, I charged in and got the dragon soul and, while absorbing it, cast a fireball and proceeded to hack the vampire to death.
It didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped. I lasted less than 5 seconds against the Vampire.

It reminded me of the Vampire Ancient in Daggerfall, where it unleashes ALL of its power in 1/4th of a second if you get close.
Seriously, if you survived that, the Vampire Ancient just tries to punch you to death...
