Oh shit. Didn't realize the beta started at 5am PT. I thought I'd be alright waking up at 7, but I may have to cut back on some sleep now. Anyway, I can sleep when I'm dead.

Quoted for emphasis. Strive to do your best, but never give up just because you can't do everything at once. If you can't lift X amount of weight or eat X amount of protein/calories, don't sweat it. It'll take time (I'm talking months or years) to really be able to perform optimally in either respect. As long as you keep making effort, you'll be on the right track. Haha, while I have done that, I generally try not to (it's gross). What I meant by raw is that I buy regular oats and not the ones that come sweetened or with fruits in it. I'm actually just about to finish off this 10lb. box: Typically I'll mix it with milk and microwave it for about 1.5 - 2 minutes. After that you can put some honey in there to sweeten it. Oats are a great source of complex carbs which give you energy for the gym. On top of that, they're very healthy.

At the quantities I eat, it can be, but the individual items themselves are not all that expensive. I generally try to buy in bulk to save money. To be honest, if you eat substantial meals (ie. not ramen), the foods that I eat are on the more inexpensive side. Eggs, milk, chicken breast, brown rice, and raw oats are all decently priced. As for the desk job, fear not - I spend 90% of my non-sleeping hours in front of a computer (programming and mechanical engineer stuff). Sticking with exercise and eating clean (those foods I mentioned are all healthy) can help negate an otherwise sedentary lifestyle with regards to body composition.

What are you listening to now?

How about an awesome remix on some classic hip hop? -
It's tough. I have a protein shake with milk first thing in the morning (33 grams) Breakfast - 6 eggs (36 grams) and 1/2 cup of oats (5 grams) Post workout shake (33 grams) Lunch - varies, but usually eat some sort of protein source like chicken breast, beef, or tuna - (average approximately 30 grams or more) Snack - Almonds - (15 grams) Dinner - varies (approximately 30 grams or more) Pre-sleep casein shake - (33 grams) TOTAL = ~215 grams of protein That doesn't take into account the fruits, veggies, and carbs I eat throughout the day. Also, this is my diet during my leaning out periods.....you wouldn't want to see what it looks like during my bulking up periods. EDIT: Keep in mind that I have a very high metabolism because of my level of activity and muscle mass - If I were to just sit around all day, my body would still burn around 3,000 calories just to maintain itself. The diet I showed you would not be recommended for every body type.

You'll want to eat protein sources periodically throughout the day. With regards to your workout, it can help to take a protein shake before and after your workout (or if you only want to take 1 scoop, you can just split it in half). What Mr W Phallus said is correct - your body will go into what is called a 'catabolic' state and it will consume muscle and store fat. By providing protein sources, you can keep your body 'anabolic' which is a state of muscle building/recovery and fat burning. Some simple tips regarding protein: If you are trying to build muscle, try to take in 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. For example, I weigh 190lbs. - this would mean that I'd need to take in 190 grams of protein throughout the day. Try not to go too long without some sort of protein intake. The longest period of time between meals will likely be when you're sleeping, so to compensate for this you should try to get in 30 grams of protein upon waking up (a scoop of protein powder is typically around 24 grams, while a glass of milk is around 6 or 7). Before bedtime, you can try using a slow digesting protein such as milk so that your body has nutrients to last you through the night. When you go too long without protein, your body will enter that 'catabolic' state.

I'm actually very big into fitness. I've been going to the gym for the past 7 years religiously (4+ times per week) in order to build strength and muscle. If you guys need any advice or tips, I love helping people out. In fact, we should start a group here specifically for helping and motivating each other.

I was in math class and was 15 years old. I'm from NY (Long Island) and had some family in the city at the time, so I was very concerned about what was going on. In fact, pretty much everyone in my school knew someone who worked/lived in the city, so it was a traumatic day for everyone. Firefighters from my town gave their lives at ground zero (I was a junior firefighter, but wasn't allowed to go in to help). My own sister worked in the city at the time and watched the towers fall with her own eyes while she stood on the roof of her office building (thankfully nobody I knew personally was injured that day). They had locked the city down for obvious reasons, so she wasn't allowed to come home that evening. There was a lot of sorrow in NY for a long time, as we'd lost a lot of good people due to an act of hatred. The place that I call home has forever been changed because of it.

I've got a friend who did just that. When we were in middle school, he created a mod for Half-Life (this is from the time when Counter-Strike was relatively new) and managed to get a bunch of talented programmers and designers on board with him. He had some knowledge of programming and 3D modeling, but once he got other people on board, he took more of a director role. The mod was even featured in a PC magazine. He wasn't able to continue on with it, but the rest of the team fortunately finished it in his vision. So, if you can get some people on board with your idea, you definitely have options as to getting it developed. I highly recommend attracting people who are still in college. Projects like this look amazing on a resume and are great for programmers/designers that are going to be entering the workforce soon.

Hey, don't hate on DBZ. Have you looked into meetup.com? Around me there's a 'game developers' meetup and they hold events where everyone gets together tries to work on different projects. If there was something like this around you, you could join it and suggest a new project for the group. If there isn't, you should consider starting your own. If you're really dedicated to this idea and need to find people, but there are no existing groups for you to draw upon, you should definitely start your own group. It'd be tough work, but so is creating a video game.

Fanatical love for a game or series?
AllYourGame Nick replied to Keywork's topic in General Gaming Chat
It would probably have to be the Battlefield series. I've loved pretty much every game in the series (except the Vietnam versions). I wish they'd give me a damn collector's edition already.
