Laptop screen has started intermittently flickering and losing brightness. I suppose it's on its last legs, and this time I'm not fixing it.

My money's on a loose cable. You could look for a service manual and try to reseat it? On the Dell Inspirons I've worked on, you basically pop the cover above the keyboard off and press down on a connector; don't even need to loosen screws.

Unfortunately, it's a Macbook from I think 2006, and it's nearly impossible to open. It's probably a heat issue, honestly, as it becomes a space heater whenever I try and run any sort of flash video. It's had a nice life.
