Finally saved enough to ship my virus infested desktop PC to my almighty computer guy. He's kind enough to clean the system, upgrade and tweak the OS, install some new hard drives, change the casing, overclock the hardware, and install a cooling system. Alas, I will soon rejoin the PC gaming front.

Couldn't just re-install windows? That always works unless you had a hardware failure.

Had no boot disc, and the viruses kept me from making any kind of HDD system recovery. But the viruses weren't the only problem. I'm pretty inexperienced on the hardware side of things, so he offered to give it a good cleanup and overclock, since my hardware is pretty old at this point. And since it's still running on Vista, I could really use the new OS.
