So, I am due a phone upgrade. I figure I should get a smartphone but have not used one before (except fiddling with a Lumia. Ugh!). I have no clue about these things. Any recommendations? Friends suggest a Galaxy S3 or Nexus 4.

@WaS: As established, Hot Heart is in UK. The Note 2 is free with a plan. (99% of phones are). The GS3 is on a cheaper plan now though (it is half a year older).

After some searching and friend-consulting, I went for the GS3 in the end. The Note 2 looked nice but I think it's ever so slightly too big. Thanks for all the help, guys!
