I felt that way about both Alpha Protocol and the 2009 Bionic Commando.

It is a tragedy, I tell you.

I can see why people are turned away. I only continued because I knew pistols and stealth were a good starting point (the ability for automatically knowing where everyone is at all times is useful for sneaking and in firefights). I think I chose a really bad first mission too; wish I'd done it after this other couple.
