Yeah you get friend summons during battles I read. And it looks like there are no longer friend codes? Friend IDs?

Friend codes are still a thing. As to friend summons, yeah they're useful but I've yet to use one for one reason or the other. Maybe I want to beat an enemy by my own hand instead of relying on my overpowered friends who are further in the game.

remember to update data once every day (after 10 am I'd suggest) to get more villagers. the game explains it further.
