I would definitely recommend LBP2 over LBP though, even if you can only get LBP2 at full price. There's so much more variety in the levels - in Story mode too, but especially in Community levels. Also, I can't put too much emphasis on Resident Evil 5. It really is a lot of fun with a friend, and I think the GOTY edition (with a ton of DLC) is relatively cheap right now.

No one mentioned Resident Evil 5 yet? It has zombies, and the co-op is a lot of fun. People criticize the controls but... If she hasn't played any other games, she probably won't notice anyway.

It's not perfect by any means, but I loved the visual style and the gameplay. It felt really "fresh", for lack of a better word. That's not something I can say about many games these days, so that's why it stuck out to me. I've heard plenty of people say they didn't like it / were disappointed, though.

It was pretty obvious from the first game that Dead Space was set up to be a franchise. It already had a full backstory and was backed up by an animated feature and a comic book. That said, I've never been a fan of the idea that videogames need a good story. Mirror's Edge was a good example of a great game with a shitty story.
