good lord he's going to be a lil fatass like I was when I was a baby. 8 lbs 8 oz on checkout, first pediatrician appointment, he's up to 8 lbs 13 oz. less than a week old

Its a good thing he's a bit heavier now since then you know that he's very healthy!
Feed him correctly and he'll be down in weight to height in no time.

Feed him correctly? I'm pretty sure six months of breastmilk would fall under the correct category.
And actually, breastfed babies grow faster in the first several months, and formula fed babies catch up later, but fatten up.
