  1. I'm with ya; sports games are, broadly, at least divisive amongst gamers and so don't fit into the 'games that everyone else seems to like' category. Indeed, on gaming boards and fora it seems that many people hate sports games as a category. Oh, and to add another game that everyone likes but that I hate: the GT series. I do not care for it at all.
  2. I have exactly 9000 gamerscore and am somewhat loath to change from such an Internet-iconic number.
  3. For the past few years I've regularly had dreams in which I've had to either re-take or finish up high school classes due to some sort of mix up. I've always had my college and graduate degrees in these dreams and I am usually very annoyed at the teacher or classmates who don't understand the material being taught at all. In my most recent dream I disrupted a civics class when the teacher kept making mistakes about the relationship between the three branches of government. I was sent to Saturday school for my efforts.
  4. Not to play GTAIV for PC? I mean, that game is so poorly ported that it may just push your CPU to the limit for the hell of it (to this decidedly non-techie, at least). Edit: I am an illiterate dumb-head; I didn't realize it was overheating generally. I dunno what could cause such a thing if the CPU is properly seated and attached to the heatsink (with a coat of thermal paste between them, natch.
  5. I, uh, think everyone hates that game. Well, except fucking hipsters and their aggressive sarcasm.
  6. The music industry isn't dying. Small bands with intense fandoms can support themselves, though the lifestyle is not glamorous. Big record companies and singers can make a shitload of money with crap songs that chart well. And anyone can make money off of licensing fees for use of songs in shows, ads or movies. PC gaming is dying, on the other hand, because consoles are so fucking excellent and devoid of any problems whatsoever.
  7. The emulator apps all cost money, IIRC. Is Swift Key worth the $4.00? I don't tend to have any trouble with the default keyboard at all...
  8. In my current apartment we have localized roaches and waterbugs. It's an old building, and they live in the drain system, so they'll crawl up out of the sink. Our food and garbage are tightly sealed, so they don't spread. I just wish the landlord would wipe them out once and for all. Then again, as soon as one apartment unit attracts them, they'd spread throughout the whole building again. The freakiest thing in any place I'd ever lived was a family of raccoons living in the walls of the house I lived in during my senior year of college. They'd fight and fuck, making horrible and strange noises all night long sometimes. After a month, we were able to trap them, clean out the wall they lived in and seal it off. That same apartment also had a veritable army of roaches until we nuked the place with bug bombs and trapped the shit out of it over Christmas break.
  9. Auto-Correct on phones these days is ducking awful. Ethanol can vouch for that. Anyway Piracy. On the topic of phones: Rooting and Jailbreaking for pirating games? Personally I wouldn't bother cos I'm on and android and it's gaming status at the moment is pretty sub-par. And on top of that Angry Birds is free on Android, so no piracy required. All Ad-supported. Which I'm perfectly fine with. I'd be up for some free ad-supported games in future. Though most publishers like to have the ad-support in the game and the initial $60 cost. I thought most smartphones present a series of possibilities you can select from when suggesting spellings. I use such a feature it all the time on my Droid phone, at least. It's much faster than typing on the tiny keyboard. I could swear the iPhone does something similar. Android apparently has a robust ROM community. Although the apps tend to cost a little money, the ROMs themselves are free and, by definition, are pirated.
  10. I love Dwarf Fortress. I dunno if other people hate it as much as they are frightened and confused by it.
  11. Okay, how about this: PC gaming is dead because a gaming PC costs $3 million dollars to buy and building one from scratch requires multiple engineering degrees.
  12. I hate the word 'maths.' It just gets on my nerves. The phrase 'in hospital' also makes my skin crawl.
  13. I wouldn't know because I don't play SC2. But the best selling game of 2010 was BlOps, which I have played and is definitely overrated bullshit as well.
  14. If texting is to blame, I hope the robust and easy to use autospell functions on most smartphones helps to improve things.
  15. If anything, people wait until the game they want is a low price on Steam because they know, it will be eventually. With a lot of those games on consoles as well, chances are they played it already, and don't mind the wait. I'll be waiting to see how many copies Minecraft will sell out of beta. My intent is still not obvious, it appears. Here's another example: PC gaming is dead because Starcraft 2 was not the best selling game this year.

    Takeaway food

Street hot dogs are bleh to the max. The taco truck I mentioned is very similar to the trailer in the pic you posted; it has a whole kitchen inside. But, yeah; food carts are everywhere here in Manhattan, everything from gourmet takeaway with frou-frou ingredients to hot dogs to Mexican. I dig it the most.
  17. They never could. It's just that the advent of the Internet has made the general inability to spell painfully obvious.
  18. I remember the whole "gotta dip" phrase from my college years, back in 2000-2004 in the Midwest. Grippa sounds pretty dumb to me. Hella has been around for more than a decade, too. I don't think I'm young enough to encounter much new slang in my real life. I do encounter professional lingo all the time, though.
  19. No examples yet? Maybe my confrontational style didn't sufficiently communicate what I wished. So here's one: PC gaming is dead because Steam has had to mark down tons of games to get them to sell at all over the holidays.
  20. Fable series. I do not understand why adults would like them as they are clearly designed for young children. Minecraft. It's a game in which the some of the most-touted achievements of its players are reproductions of something, whether it be a reproduction of the Enterprise, FF1 character sprites or game levels. It's disturbing to me that we value reproductions more than originality as gamers, but I suppose when one of the most popular shows on TV involved folks singing other's hit songs, I shouldn't be surprised. Note: this may not be Minecraft's fault.

    Takeaway food

The best takeaway food I have around me here in NYC is from souvlaki carts or the local taco truck, which is also the best Mexican food I've had since coming here. I don't go to fast food places except Subway. Back when I did go to fast food places, I loved me Culver's butter burgers and fried cheese curds.
  22. My motto is: no distinguishing marks.
  23. PC gaming is dead. Discuss.
  24. Just to be clear; wasn't GTA IV for PC announced well after its release on console? I think there's still some hope for an RDR PC version. Indeed, there have been rumors on various gaming sites to the effect that Rockstar will announce a PC port in the next month or so. I think some folks blame piracy for the historically lower sales figures for PC versions of multiplatform games and the higher risk of lower sales for PC-only titles. I'm not entirely convinced that's the case.
