Yes, you did. What began with me asking specific proof from TheMightyEthan so I could understand his views, which you and others decided to join in, turned suddenly into me being x y and z because of Trump’s views which were then turned into mine, with me now having to justify my own views. This without even going into all the cherry-picking and strawmanning that keeps frustratingly happening in every thread while I give each and every one my time and attention (e.g. reading and providing specific sources, etc.) without doing any such dishonest tactics – unless I’m the target of ad hominems to which I prefer not to reply. Holy… see? What does that even have to do with anything and why do you keep assuming so much? Actually, I think I’m done here. I’ll just be on my way and I thank all who actually took the time and effort.

But then you would be branding almost every president ever around the world as a bigot in my sincere view. @Mr. GOH! As I’ve shown in one of my previous posts, they’ve twisted and omitted his words to fit the narrative of racism (which wouldn’t even make sense in some cases) and they have a tendency to grab every opportunity to nitpick on Trump’s wordings to call him everything, like liar because he said he had the highest-rating show on Colbert when he had the second (after its debut) and making false and fallacious comparisons with former presidents. As for the rest and just to clarify: 4 - Alright my bad, I must’ve misread. A barrage of questions and insinuations are at fault here I’d say; 8 - The EU isn’t a single country and I didn’t experience that, quite the opposite (it wasn't better either). Keyword you’ve missed: similar; 3-and-others: Why get granular? Not only are you moving the goalposts, I’ve already said I’m done after our last conversation if you wouldn't mind.

@Thursday Next I'm sorry to say, but the Mary Sue concept is actually a defined thing. And the "mistakes" she makes are part of the plot, not because of her own personality or faults. Also, I think competent =/= what I'm saying. It wasn't me who's said the prequels were for kids, George Lucas did. But I thank you for the analysis anyway .

But I said “as an example”. You can substitute his name for Bush’s or with any other for former president name for that matter. Veneration? The statue was built with other values, mindsets and maybe reasons. Every country had those so man what would you do with Greece's or Italy’s? Learning history is what they’re there for; learning from their mistakes and admiring their achievements in their time and not hiding in fear. Disingenuous? Clearly? Giving them the benefit of the doubt after all their li--I mean--misinterpretations, are you? And yes I did. No proof whatsoever he's said that. Nor did I. (1) No – unfeasible and too Judge Dredd-y – but the US south border definitely needs increased security, patrol, etc. (2) The dreamers issue is a really complicated one and there’s no easy position to be made so I’m inclined to neither in particular still. (3) Any economics' views are a big can of worms and it would take pages and pages to discuss each one’s on any matter. (4) What are you referring to specifically? The temporary ban on certain Muslim countries? If so, seeing how well it’s affecting some European countries, a temporary ban to establish some things first in the benefit of preventing such events, then yes in that situation I’m in favor of it. (5) Did Trump outlaw abortions? Or my position on it? There will always be those and while I understand many issues many people have with it, outlawing is not a solution. (6) Any specific proven case? I don’t support discrimination, including those directed at men to fit a quota. (7) From what I know marijuana has few credible and peer-reviewed studies on its long term side-effects, so unless I’ve missed such studies, I wouldn’t think allowing one more drug into society would benefit anyone – only bigpharma so switching drug criminals for others doesn't seem that productive (but this one I dunno because of jobs, etc). (8) Same with ‘Obamacare’ but here I lean over to the other side seeing as I’ve personally experienced the immense troubles of similar ones in socialist countries. (9) Again, economics. I’ve answered those questions out of respect but seeing as you’re getting heated and the moderators don’t seem to find your attitude reprehensible, I prefer to stop debating with you. Finally, going by the three-strikes-and-you’re-out rule I’ve learned from TheMightyEthan, I would advise you to read the definition of bigot. Wouldn't such a bigoted person be exposed with ease (with proof, e.g., unlike the "Nigerian huts" remark) and not being taken for granted as a bigot such for "inflammatory" wordings on already controversial issues no matter how you approach them, i.e., matters on immigration?

Sure, but again: who’s suggesting that? You weren’t and I certainly was not. Well, the original trilogy was targeted not only to scifi enthusiasts but also to the whole family, with only the prequels being targeted specifically kids – or so George Lucas suddenly claimed when faced with (valid) criticism. But as a kid I disliked the Phantom Menace for it being a mess and full of non-sequiturs (although I loved Darth Maul) so branding something as “fun science fantasy kids” as an excuse (again, for the lack of a better word) seems misguided. Oh you are indeed completely right there! Hum. Check! My move: Luke did more than fire blasters like Leia in the New Hope and ESB begins quite some time after one (read the theatrical crawl), so a conditioned Luke already proficient with a lightsaber – then implicit to be a Jedi’s weapon so I'm not including Finn here –, force pulling with much effort wasn’t that of a stretch. Also, as I’ve said before, I don’t know how this is helping the new trilogy seeing as the New Hope was supposed to be standalone. (1) Anakin was the most hated character until Rey came along – and he’s freaking Jesus. Btw, that would make him Gary Stu. (2) Nothing but the helping hand of 8 Y-wings and 21 x-wings . There’s also been a long ongoing debate if Luke even used the force with the missiles. But again, the New Hope was a different beast with admittedly awful editing like Biggs “best bush pilot” remark not appearing on the theatrical version. (3) Pilots the millennium falcon like a pro, defeats an immensely powerful but wounded jedi(?) while doing some pretty big force pulls on her lightsaber. (4) Dude, I think you should hide those spoilers for those who haven’t seen the movie All that's just to move the plot and barely any fault of hers. A Mary Sue is a concept of wish fulfillment of the author, but with the author here being social pressures – i.e. strong female character meaning perfect character – I call her that. Luke and Anakin definitely had them. And unless IX reveals she’s in any way related to Jesus – it would be another case of bad writing –, her capabilities will forever be branded as being part of such my many detractors.

Fair enough. Yup, like westernized manga (inverted, changed graphics, etc). It just seemed unnecessary to me when “Comics, Manga, etc.” would fit everything; a fan of let’s say flipbooks could also find an interesting manhwa where otherwise he wouldn’t even look at such a place. Now… where should put my soviet-era erotic funny papers ? Seriously, no bait there. I really didn’t know what other word to use.
-
Ah! This thread… where were you hiding all this time, sweetheart? Speaking of which, why are there so many threads with such small differences, e.g, three for last movies seen and one for manga plus another for comics? Should I create other ones for Bande dessinee and Webcomics? And if so, wouldn’t that just help the website seem a little “slower”? Just my 2cents =) @deanb Have you read Alan Moore’s Supreme run? While I find All-Star Superman to be a neat amalgamation of older silver age stories, Moore here creates something really special/different by using a 90’s knock-off to really delve without restrictions into what now is and was then our beloved Supes&co – all the while staying away from his usual Margaret Thatcher analogies, hooray!! –, making it one of the best Superman stories without actually featuring the iconic character.
-
@deanb Here's a tough question for you: who's the bigger d*ck in that video? An opinion piece from the same paper that admitted to lying about Donald Trump time and time again? What, was Buzzfeed unavailable ? But I’ll read it, let’s see: not specifying he said illegal Mexicans (check), calling him racist for suggesting that some dreamers could actually be contributing to ms-13 (check), claiming without any proof that he said Haitians "all have AIDS," Nigerian immigrants would never "go back to their huts", and that Afghanistan is a terrorist haven (check check check). I’m sorry, not to dismiss your contribution, but that one seems like a waste of time to me even if just for the fact that the race-card is being used as easily as that. He is? How so? That’s like saying JFK’s your man just based on that picture -- a man which could be argued to be one of the worst presidents in US history. I'm not a white nationalist but I "support statues" as you put it. Historical figures are complex with a lot of merits (like a distinguished soldier of the Mexican-American War who freed his own slaves before the American Civil War -- a confederate might I add) and demerits, and cherry-picking their “faults” to fit that narrative seems unfair. I’m including the 5 Lenin statues in the US and I don’t care for his achievements, does that make me a commie? @TheMightyEthan Eh, just be sure to contribute to this thread as a proper apology you lazy bum (i.e. don’t worry ). I’m having a hard time with this guilt-by-association (for the lack of a better word) I think you’re using. Again, using the Obama administration as an example, with Hillary Clinton being caught laughing on tape about how she managed to alleviate the sentence of a child rapist and the victim accusing H.C. of smearing her in court, what would we call him? Now, with Hillary being great friends and financed by Harvey Weinstein – the most open-secret in cuckooland --, what would that make her? Each person I’ve mentioned has multiples “strikes” – ask and ye shall receive if ye what –, so… yeah. I’m inclined to still give him the benefit based on that. With so many sources twisting or lying about what he says, I think you’ll understand my position.

@deanb That scene in Hoth is from the second movie so not only was telekinesis already established in the first movie, he also had + 3 years of studying the force with Yoda. Anakin was literally Jesus and that movie it still pummeled to this day for many stuff including that. OT Leia passively sensing Luke’s well-being and receiving Luke’s call for help are a long way to TLJ Leia I think. Sure, that’s your prerogative. Older twin sister if we add time dilation into the mix . Had the potential, you mean. If the grandson of Anakin is coming late to the party what would his twin sister be then? Besides a plot contrivance, I mean. ____ Thinking about the way this thread's going: How does comparing the faults of an old and ground-breaking trilogy with a lower budget (combined and adjusted accordingly) than that of The Last Jedi’s, or even comparing it to one of the most lambasted movies in the whole franchise, help TLJ’s or TFW’s case at all?
-
Just a random platitude to spice up the thread then, gotcha! Isn’t it indicative of bad writing when the audiences need to even assume that? Even just a passing remark would’ve helped: “my brother and I did other things besides making out, you know!” They neither showed nor told. Regarding the Dagobah scene, Luke was in good shape – no massive explosions here –, already training with Yoda and had time to focus, AND still only managed to barely make a few bubbles. Assuming you've noticed the missing consonant , I'm saying that grey areas wouldn't have a Mary Sue-ish type character (to which I argue she undoubtedly is). Also, I lack your enthusiasm for the 'blurring the line' thing seeing as it's something almost every franchise has been doing for quite a while, but to each his own.

On behalf of both of us: thank you Vault Boy and creepy mouthless Gerbil!

There’s no fun in dealing with those who’ve strayed from the path of justice, civilian. There's only sweat, blood and t-HOLY S*** A XENOMORPH!! "He was reaching for his gun, I swear! " ------- I bought ONI for the PS2 along with Timesplitters II yeeeaaars ago because the character looked so much like the protag from the awesome Fear Effect games on the original playstation. My reasoning that time for picking it up was “if she looks like her then chances are she’ll also run around in a bathrobe and make out with girls!” ONI was a pretty neat brawler filled with shoryukens which almost saved it for the disgusting lack of bathrobes.

Good, you shouldn't! No one said that -- I certainly didn't! --, so who are you guys arguing against here? Also: It didn't bombed in Europe and western Russia (which is impressive considering what it was up against), becoming one of the most successful stinkers of all time. Although, thinking now about it, the movie did receive good-to-rave reviews throughout Europe for example (not that we should really care but still). As for the rest: That's all fine and dandy, but everyone you've mentioned had some sort of training, some even being masters. How did we went from two powerhouses messing around with lightning to sudden jedi mind tricks in TFA and surviving that explosion + flying through space with no training whatsoever? Even the chosen one wasn't capable of that much without proper training. Also, the Luke scene wasn't unbelievable per se in the SW universe -- again, no one said that --, but introducing it like that as a part of the resolution of the climax? Some would argue that Rey's whole existence throws a wreNtch into that view .

@Mister Jack You should try it if you like challenging platformers with challenging camera controls. Replaying the 1st one a few years ago was still a blast using the magnificent PCSX2 -- it looked pretty darn good.

Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death (freaking DEATH, people!) A great FPS from Rebellion with all the violence and testosterone you'll ever need! With the added bonus of allowing you to throw anyone in jail for whatever reason. "Loitering!? Life sentence!" Pick it up and help clean Mega-City One of these creeps!
-
Oops, my bad! I thought you were implying something along those lines seeing as: this became a quality vs success discussion out of nowhere, this being a SW thread and Force Awakens belonging to neither of those two genres you've mentioned (at least in my book). And the Jumanji bit was just a lil’ joke pertaining your observation, but either way comparing TLJ to Jumanji wouldn’t help anyone since we would be putting jumanji against freaking STAR WARS.

^ Are you sure it was about golf? Or even a game for that matter? Oh, I haven't read this previously! Now open up a new one with Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins on the PSP and you'll be set for life; the game crossed the sacred line between 'balls-out hard' and 'cheap af' with a triple pirouette ending with a split. And it's ugly to boot! Have you tried its 3D spiritual successor, Maximo?

@TheMightyEthan Aw shucks! Then share that forbidden wisdom with us. ! Them nasty spoilers tho... As for Shadow Watch: I've been playing it for a couple of hours and it's way more complex and fleshed-out than I had expected. All those walls of text detailing about the world and the characters puts this one just a step away from a Kojima game -- still nothing about their multi-layered sex lives nor damn fiddles so I'm safe . Having a blast (despite the nonsensical controls)! @silly7722 Post your review of it here when you're done for us to see if it proved its worthiness!

Like I said before, that doesn't mean much seeing as there's still no real evaluation of its ROI. But the point I was making is that with SW showing symptoms of losing its appeal, which never happened before, pumping them out like this without taking a breather seems unwise. I’ve heard/read more criticisms pointing to the movie itself. The Chinese audiences, for example, according to the most upvoted reviews on their Rotten Tomatoes-like Douban, are filled with complaints like “insults the audiences’ intelligence”, “incompetent braindead Galactic Empire” and even the concept of 白左 keeps popping up. Other reasons, like some of my friends’, are simply that it was a sucky movie with an awful deus ex machina – which Rian Johnson justified with a non-canon book for some reason, as he did for the Leia's thing -- totally missing the point. There are tons of reasons why many people couldn’t get into it and with the prequels still ranking higher, for example, on the RT’s audience score compared to The Last Jedi, I dunno, that doesn't seem to be the problem for me. But he raised above all expectations and saved the galaxy with what really differentiated him from all others: hope. Moreover, unlike Vader (which had all those same traits), we didn’t see his complete shift happening in the movies or anywhere else for that matter seeing as they dumped the expanded universe that even touched on that. @TheMightyEthan Then you would consider The Force Awakens to be a fluke? And I think they would point you to Jumanji crushing it in the US box office for the 3rd weekend straight as a middle finger @Hot Heart
-
I’ll start then: Anachronox I find this to be a truly wonderful gem, mixing turn-based JRPG mechanics and great writing into a humorous scifi adventure like no other! By the same company that produced Deus Ex, this is one not to be missed – that is... if you don’t mind the quake II engine. And it's dirt cheap too!

First thank you for your trouble and secondly, I apologize for the HU-ge post: (1) He said that Mexico keeps sending their criminals to the USA and there’s more than proof of that seeing as its own government has been distributing pamphlets on how do go about it for ages (also, you’re missing a keyword there: illegal Mexicans). (2) That’s a known fake tweet. He said the Mayor of San Juan had “poor leadership ability” among officials since they “want everything to be done for them.” (3) That was clearly about economics, man. Like any other leader, he prefers the crème de la crème and usually a country’s GDP is a good indicator of where to find it – context matters. (4) I couldn’t confirm that, but either way that’s not Trump and I think you’re fallaciously putting them in the same basket. I mean, remember B. Obama’s Secretary of State's shenanigans? Would you also put that on his administration? (5) Err that’s not how it went Ethan. There was a huge crowd there and white nationalists were but a small percentage – he said there were good and bad people on both sides. And, as per usual of him, questioned the press about their unprofessionalism like not condemning/reporting the violent actions of Antifa (now labelled as domestic terrorists) or the “radical-left” of that tragic day. Something which the press are just now finally admitting to have purposely omitted btw. (6) Woah what a blatant a hit piece! Here’s a much better assessment of its complexity. (7) Again, that’s not Trump. But wait, he’s “homophobic” because he’s against same-sex marriage? I know gay guys who also find the notion ludicrous . Also, how does that affect in any way his role with NASA? (8) You mean when he said – more than a decade ago and in private – that a powerful & rich guy like him could do anything to women even stuff like that? I dunno man, that’s seems like a stretch to me. Uncouth, definitely. But a bigot? Throwing that around as easy as that just diminishes its power; look what’s been happening to the race-card.
-
Ha ha I can kinda see where they’re coming from, I mean, the Chinese audiences take the Transformers but draw the line at The Last Jedi!? I was referring to how you were branding the movie’s detractors as ‘fanboys who follow Hamill’s words as gospel’. Isn't anyone allowed to dislike it without being branded as something or another?
-
That number means little still when there’s so much to adjust, compare and balance out. Furthermore, don’t forget that until now they had the original trio to fall back on and the only one left got err crippled. How many times will the Vader bait work? Delays aren’t anything new to them -- IX much included -- and I think the cow is in need of some serious R&R so who knows. Time will tell. I guess, but I didn’t do that in fact, doesn’t that say something to you about the Last Jedi? Didn’t he liked the prequels? And many folks disliked The Force Awakens.

“Friends” = Bullies he beat up to a pulp one time or another before turning them into glorified nannies of Gohan.
