    Dogmeat can't die in Fallout 4. A brilliant example of why Bethesda shouldn't be allowed to touch this series.

      New Vegas game has the normal mode and then the hardcore/hassle mode with all the extra caveats. I think within the context of like say Fallout 2 permadeath is standard but with FO3 and after having your buddy die just because they wandered in front of you at the wrong time would get kind of old. Although usually if they have a quest related to them they're a little more uh...sturdier?

      If a quest requires them you don't get to do that quest. RPGs 101.
