Trying out Windows 8 on my work laptop since the tool I need is now compatible. So far so good the first 2 hours this morning. Just gotta un-default the Metro apps. I really like the speed improvements.

One thing I'm considering now though is my graphics card. My good ol' 4830 has lasted a while (thanks, consoles) but it's not supported for Win 8 which means it's finally time to upgrade. Hopefully I can afford a new card by the time Win 8 is out.

Where do you find the most speed gain? And if it's I/O, is it on an SSD or conventional disk?

I'm on a HDD. It boots faster and just is all around more snappy. What I have it installed on I do not game on so I can't say anything about that.
