  1. I have to wonder if those things actually work. I am loving the Power A Pro EX controller (the 360 style controller for the PS3) but my wife HATES it! She prefers the DS3. I think a lot of it is just user preference. Then again, I think the best controller of this gen is the Classic Controller so what do I know?
  2. I ended up opting for this case. Or, as the French say, Voilà! Everything fit comfortably enough and I was impressed at how quiet it is! I'm used to having fans grind. Yet these things were moving lots of air and keeping my PC nice and cool while making less noise. Of course, I'm sure replacing the 12cm fan might be an issue later on. My only issue with the case thus far is more an issue with the Mobo. The case has four USB ports on the front and took up both the on board USB ports. Oh well ... This is actually the first PC I've owned that has no floppy drive. Weird, huh?
  3. There are dicks in the Pinball community (another male dominated competition area) and probably every other competitive activity out there.
  4. New PC is mostly up and going. I really dislike Windows 7 a lot but oh well. Gotta move forward I guess.

You will be much happier if you get a keyboard with a Windows key. So many great shortcuts. (Or perhaps you can map another key to it? Not sure)

I love the taskbar and being able to pin things to it, and then being able to pin documents to programs, artists to media players, etc. Libraries may take a slight bit of adjustment but there are so many more options and shortcuts to make life easier.

P4, I could remap my keys I suppose but the only key I could remap it to is something useless like Scroll Lock and that's not entirely convenient. I could always buy a Unicomp Classic 104.

  5. How can anyone work with a pile of sweet PC parts on his desk?!

  6. Well considering the Western Christian Church has defined itself as catholic and the East as Orthodox it's not too out of there. The word catholic comes from the Latin and Greek meaning whole or universal. Catholic is a word like polish/Polish where the meaning changes drastically when it is capitalized. "Catholic" (upper case) refers to the Roman Catholic church. Lowercase catholic simply refers to Christ's church on earth which includes Protestants and all believers.
  7. That's how Ted Kennedy stayed in office forever... In Massachusetts they swore he was framed. Either that or they felt bad that his brothers were both murdered.
  8. The problem is people say "Those politicians are all crooks ... except my guy. He's good."
  9. The core issue is that governments will be run by men and govern over men. Therefore it is necessary to have proper controls on the power of the government in its control of the governed. I also think a lot of problems are better suited at the very local level to help avoid this issue. That way bad ideas can be rooted out at the local level before they ever reach up the Federal level and good ideas can spread from county to county and later from state to state. We waste our time at the national political level discussing idiotic topics like birth control when there are far more serious issues out there. I know the reasons why politicians do what they do, but it's ridiculous.
  10. This argument has been made dozens if not hundreds of times before. This line of argument has been used any time a dictator has come into power and even, to a different degree, by big government bureaucrats. "You don't know what's best for you. You don't know to take care of yourself. Let us, the elite class make decisions for you." Democracy doesn't work for an entirely different reason. It means that 50.1% tell the other 49.9% what to do. It's tyranny of the majority. Republics are far greater as they are a nation of laws and not of men. Limits must be placed to limit the power of one individual over another (see Federalist 51 - James Madison.)
  11. I think I'd rather use the joystick she has on her desk.
  12. Restarted Viewtiful Joe 2. Seriously, why did I never finish this like 8 years ago?

  13. We got 17 pages without this? http://youtu.be/-UKhVRIi_yY Great movie.
  14. Yeah, I was looking at that as well as the Antec Three Hundred series. The biggest problem with PC cases seems to be the ugly ones work well and the stylish ones stink. I mean, that Cooler Master looks butt-ugly IMO. Of course, taste is subjective.
  15. Yeah no problem. As for the DVD drive, I already have one. My brother gets my old system and he already has a working DVD drive so I'll keep mine which I flashed the firmware on to region free. I'm keeping my card reader / floppy drive as well. Also for those who use it, do you think this can run Dolphin fairly well?
  16. Here's my build: feel free to critique it and/or make suggestions. It comes to ~$700 before shipping so it gives me some wiggle room for an extra HDD in the future or maybe a BD drive. I do a lot of video encoding so that's my concern besides gaming. Check my Steam Profile to see the sorts of games I normally play. I'm not big into a lot of PC games but there are a few out there I wouldn't mind checking out (mostly shmups so nothing too taxing) I already have a copy of Win 7 and plan on dual booting with Linux. 17. Does that Pony want to see Alton Brown or something?
  18. So I can build a PC finally. Anyone want to help me pick out parts? My budget is pretty much around $800.

How much does a good 22" monitor go for? I plan on using my TV, but... well we all know why I would rather have a monitor

right now the mid range AMD cards are better and use less power. 6950 FTW.

  19. I read an article about how we need to save the Greater Prairie Chicken. Does the average person even know such an ugly bird exists?

There are many species of chicken that are out there, but not everyone would recognize them as chickens. So, I am behind you on saving the chicken.

But, fuck them mother fuckin' smelt in that mother fuckin' delta.

  20. We get it; you're a one issue voter. So what's this whole thing about stopping hate. You sure seem to hate on overweight people. Have fun with your hate. And the difference between Chris Christie at Chick-fil-a and Kim Jong-Un with hot wings is? North Korea is essentially open for a food for no-nukes deal. Chris Christie had nothing to do with food. Besides, it's a basic assumption that food aid sent to any third world country ends up in the hands of its elite and never sees the common people.
  21. I think Kim Jong Un is just hungry for some hot wings or something.
  22. I'm not Catholic so I may be wrong, but I do know that Catholic Priests can refuse to give someone communion. In doing some Googling, I found this: Q. 2. Under what circumstances can a Catholic priest deny someone the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist? A. It can be denied under the following circumstances: 1. The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist cannot be administered to members of other religions, and 2. The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist cannot be administered to those who voluntarily continue to live in grave sin. I'm not a Priest (heck, I'm not even Catholic!) so I can't vouch for this entirely. I do know that the Roman Catholic church does excommunicate people so essentially this is what happened. I'm a Methodist and double checking the UMC's website I get this joyful little message on their FAQ: Should I receive Communion if I feel unworthy? Two thousand years ago Jesus ate with sinners and those whom others scorned. He still does. None of us is worthy, except by God’s grace. Thank God we don’t have to earn worth in God’s eyes by our goodness or our faith. Your sacred worth, and ours, is God’s free gift. No matter what you have done or what your present condition, if you want Christ in your life you are welcome at his table. Communion provides the opportunity for you to confess your sins, to receive forgiveness, and to indicate your intention to lead a new life. Catholics must do as they feel is right and despite the fact that I disagree with their practice (I wasn't allowed communion at my grandmother's funeral - the priest specifically said "Only Baptized Catholics.") I solve this issue with not being Catholic. I guess if I agreed with them, I'd probably be one.
  23. My definition is listed first on Dictionary.com. Not sure how more modern one needs ... :-/ Ooh, 0-3.
  24. $10 for Sonic Generations? If I had not just bought the PS3 version for $20, I'd be all over this! Of course, the PC version ran like poop on my current PC but I assume on my future gaming PC it would obviously run better.
  25. Yeah here in the States Pantomime refers to acting via gestures and actions without the use of words or any speech much in the way of a silent movie or a Mime. Neither have ever been funny. I will give that comedy is subjective and I am a big snob.
