  1. Went to Target today at lunchtime and got one of these.
  2. What's on your mind? It's always nice to look down at your hand and see dried blood over a cut. I wonder how and when I did that. :-/

That happens to me quite a bit as well. So weird.

  3. And I'm on flood watch for Massachusetts. That's not going to be fun.

ooh, good reminder. i need to check if 117 is flooded before i go home.

  4. I'm 99.9% sure your statistic is made up. That's something I've never seen proven. I did watch part of Ben Stein's excellent documentary on the bigotry against religious people in the scientific world so I'm sure a lot keep it to themselves. As proven with the whole global warming lie, it's very easy for so-called scientists to be sheep to political and personal whims. I had a great professor in college who actually spent part of one physics class where he talked about the way that different things in the universe all seemed to work at this pre-planned way and how the rules of the cosmos all came together and what not. He said that for him that was enough to open the door to the possibility of there being a creator and wanted to stress to us (this was an Intro to Physics class) that religion and science are never contradictory and to not be afraid of science if we were deeply religious.
  5. True - to openly claim 100% that there is or isn't a god is just delusional. There is simply no way to verify something like that. Christians openly admit it's a leap of faith, though.
  6. For those offended by my post earlier or whatever, understand that I'm talking about the militant stick up the ass people you find on the internet. The ones who feel the need to make a stupid post and start an argument when you mention that last Sunday you went to Church or because you do support something that is right wing. It annoys the shit out of me when comedians, celebrities, the so-called self proclaimed "intellectuals" openly mock people who believe in a higher being as being simple-minded, unintelligent or brainwashed sheep. Issac Newton came up with the principals of motion, developed calculus and invented the cat door. He also wrote books about the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. In short, it's not funny when a comedian does a stand-up bit telling me that I'm some how inferior because I believe in Jesus. He can have his opinions and he can state them but he and the people who laugh at them just make themselves out to be bigots. I also have an issue with people openly declaring that they are 100% sure that there is no god. They can say they don't believe in a god or that they aren't sure but to declare absolutely that there is no god is claiming omniscience which is not only prideful but rather ludicrous to claim that you have such definitive knowledge.
  7. Very good point. I never understood the proverbial stick up the butts of many Atheists on the internet. Yes I understand that your father doesn't love you. I know that your mom used to take you to church when you'd rather be watching Muppet Babies. That's no reason to get all pissed at someone for saying "God Bless You" when you do something nice or when a movie/song/game/book has a Christian influence to it. Seriously, you have no right to insult the religious beliefs of others (except Mormons and Scientologists ) Get over it!
  8. So I'm in the mood for a movie. Strangely I am thinking of watching either The Passion of Joan of Arc or Godzilla vs Gigan. Sometimes even I don't get myself.

Passion of Joan of Arc was one of the few classics my film studies class actually enjoyed. Despite supposedly being 'scholars', the majority of us were much more into the Godzilla thing; but Passion of Joan stands out from other classics more than vs. Gigan stands out from other Godzilla movies.

Godzilla Mothra King Gidorah is quite the spectacle. Highly recommended. The best of the Millennium series.

See I thought GMK was bland and that Kaneko got Godzilla all wrong. It's not as bad as the clusterfuck that is Final Wars, though.

  9. Haha, that's exactly what I do! My work shoes are falling apart at the back (on the inside) so I repaired them with a bit of black tape. They've lasted me a year and a half of daily use at work so I can't complain much. Still, the longer I can wait on dropping $30 on a pair of shoes, the better.
  10. I can't remember the last time I bought boots. I don't know if that a sign that I'm cheap or a sign that my boots were made well and lasted a long time.
  11. Since apparently I'm made of money (or rather I just had some gift card credit at Amazon) and
  12. Woke up this morning to find a heavy tree branch and a pile of ice frozen to my car. Goodbye, Winter. You aren't welcome any more.

  13. I could listen to Indian girls speaking the UK Indian-English (think the girl from Royal Pains) all day and all night.
  14. Watched two episodes of MST3K and cleaned the kitchen. In ten minutes my bread goes in the oven. I could totally be a housewife. :-P

    Ants vs Fungi

Video spoilered for the squeamish. For those who won't look, think John Hurt. Very fascinating that each species has its own fungi that attacks it. It keeps all insects in the jungle in check so that one species doesn't overrun the whole place. It's somewhat curious to watch because your mind can be taken in so many different directions. I prefer to look at it and think of how every creature does has a purpose in the great Master Plan of our creator. Something like what H.G. Wells said in War of the Worlds:
  16. Because the government subsidizes corn and that makes sugar too expensive.
  17. Well, I went on another DVD purchasing spree: this time from England. Thank God for not having to pay VAT as well as my Region Free PAL to NTSC DVD player. I saw this documentary as a kid but sadly there is no US release outside of a long OOP VHS and Laserdisc. They both bring good cash on eBay. I'm not a big fan of this Commie but I can't deny that he left his mark on cinema. The US release by Flicker Alley was $80! This one was less than $20 after the exchange rate. The content is 100% identical! Early British filmmaker. R.W. Paul built the first camera that Méliès owned! and: (the set I got is on the right and as you can see the packaging is vastly superior to the expensive and now OOP US release.)
  18. So Amazon says Black and White will be at my parents' house on Wednesday. Meh, at least I saved $20 by ordering both from them.

  19. Georgia, you were just on my mind. (line from "The Cheap Detective") and to continue with Willie:
  20. I approve. By the way, Madbassman looks strikingly similar to my future brother-in-law ...
  21. Heh, no. I may have been used in that but that's not its origin. Now this is on my mind ... That and why certain PAL DVDs are far cheaper than their US counterparts.
  22. 2X2L calling CQ ... New York. Isn't there anyone on the air? Isn't there anyone on the air? Isn't there anyone ... 2X2L

  24. You mean the console that would break and had a proprietary drive laser that can't be replaced? I really wish the original Xbox had BC to the Dreamcast. Eventually ROMS and ports will be the only way people will play the Dreamcast games (if they play them at all now.)
  25. Skipping my 10am snack? Not a good idea. >_
