@FDS:  That arrangement would be godawful, because it would have to map the mouse movement to a control stick, it couldn't be 1-to-1 like on PC unless the game itself supported kb/m.  I 100% agree that kb/m is by far the best shooter control mechanism though.

@TCP:  The DS3's sticks are just way too loose and have a dead zone the size of Texas in the middle of them.  No precision whatsoever.  I will say the scope system in Killzone 2 though where you use the stick for gross aiming and the sixaxis for fine aiming was pretty fantastic.  Best controller setup I've ever used in a shooter (kb/m aside).  I wish it had been used for all iron-sights aiming and not just scopes.

I used the Sharpshooter layout for Infinite: L1 to Aim, R1 to Shoot, L2 to Use Vigor, and R2 to Cycle Vigors. Infinite has great options for consoles, because let me tell you, I had to adjust the default sensitivity when first playing.

The only time I've ever felt a dead zone for the DualShock 3 is in Metal Gear Rising where it felt like breaking free of enemy attacks required me to break off the analog stick.

Tim fucking Rogers.

I really despise the guy, but I agree with most of this review.

Of particular interest is Chapter 5. If you don't want to read the whole thing (and chances are you don't), just hit Chapter 5.

Issues like those outlined in that chapter really illuminate the massive distance I think games (or at least many mainstream, big-budget games) as a medium have to traverse before... being better, I suppose. The complaints in Ch. 5 really limn a dichotomy between gameplay and narrative that isn't obvious for many of us (not us personally, obv., but us as "gamers", or whatever). Good stuff.

I'll say again that I fucking hate Tim Rogers.

You got a little brown on you.

And Ethan I am curious over your opinion now that you've played all three games relatively close by to each other. As someone who has played all three at separate instances I like to say that:

Best setting: Bioshock 1

Best gameplay: Bioshock 2

Best Narrative/characters: Infinite

But what's your opinion?

Same for me, Dubya-N-S.

I think the only reason why I don't gush over the first BioShock as much as others, much like for Uncharted, is because of how hyped up it was by the time I played it. Sure it mostly met those expectations, but they were expectations set up by others rather than myself.
