CorgiShinobi
I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil, but Resident Evil 4 is easily in my Top 5. With that I'll occasionally check any news on upcoming Resident Evil titles. Here's one! You know those rumors of Slant Six Games branching off into a Resident Evil game? Well, Operation Raccoon City is that game. If you've played any recent Resident Evil, you know that the games have taken a strong liking to action rather than horror. This has always been a complaint, but you could still admire the new nasties that you have to pummel with lead. Operation Raccoon City, while a spin-off, still follows the new objective of action rather then the ancestral urge to survive from creepy experiments. You're in Raccoon City, for the Xth time, and... Well, I'll let you read the article and comment.
MetalCaveman
Based on what has been said so far, the game sounds really cool to me. Sounds like a cool concept, and what's been said about the story has me really interested in this game, however I still want to see some gameplay. "It is September 1998 and the action centers once more on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Hearing of this plan, the US Government dispatches its own special forces to uncover any evidence that exposes the cause of the viral infection and Umbrella’s actions. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Services soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or in four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City. Expect the return of original Resident Evil enemies, iconic landmarks such as the Raccoon City Police Department and fan favorite characters, including Leon S. Kennedy, who as a rookie police officer in Raccoon City is on your hit list to eliminate. Players will experience a retelling of classic moments from past titles Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 and watch the events unfolding from the menacing perspective of the Umbrella Security Service, giving fans the chance to rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak." http://www.siliconera.com/2011/03/28/resident-evil-operation-raccoon-city-to-reinterpret-events-of-resident-evil-2-and-3/
Mal
It sounds alright... but man, they sure love changing the story. And I'm still peeved that they do away with the horror aspect of the games... fuck, my 5 years old cousins can play RE4 and 5 with ease. They NEVER was scared. Pirandello
I can't help but wonder if this'll actually play like a Resident Evil game or just turn into a third-person Left4Dead.
toxicitizen
As much as I'm intrigued by this, I kinda wish they'd just make a proper Resident Evil 6. No silly reboots either. Just keep the gameplay like 4 and 5. Only make it more like 4 and less like 5. Actually scary and none of that co-op nonsense. Hell, I'd even say forget that Las Plaguas stuff and go back to good old G/T-Virus, regular zombies and Tyrants. The best part of Resident Evil 5 was when you go through the lab and there's a ton of lickers crawling around. That was the only part that actually felt like a Resident Evil game. Faiblesse Des Sens
Does Mario 64 feel like a Super Mario game? *rolls eyes* The Las Plaguas stuff is great and fits right in with the story. Going back to G/T-Virus wouldn't work based on what they have set up so far.
Mal
It could work. Remember those Crimson Heads? With the bulk of T/G-Virus research going underground for so long, I would guess they made a T-Virus that can make a person go Crimson far faster. We seen what they done with the Lickers. They're much bulkier. Who knows what they done with the Hunters, let alone the Tyrants. We also only seen a glimpse of what the G-Virus can do since the stuff we seen were unstable. Besides... Las Plagas has the mind control trait that can unify everything together... so I expect a hybrid. But yeah, need more scary yo.
toxicitizen
Yeah, I guess a hybrid could work. What bothers me most about the Plaguas is how they just don't look or feel like "proper" undead zombies. They just look like crazy people and frankly don't make for a very scary atmosphere. And the bosses in RE5 all looked the same huge fucking blob of shit. That seriously sucked. I miss the days when the series would pit you against stuff like these guys Even Nemesis was better than fighting this thing for the third time .... CorgiShinobi
You know that enemy was actually a product of an advanced strain of the Progenitor virus and Jill Valentine's T-virus antibodies, right? While Las Plagas were present in Resident Evil 5, it wasn't the driving force behind Uroboros. Since Ada Wong never actually delivered a Master Plaga to Wesker, all he could use was a modified Control Plaga. Still effective for urban bio-warfare, but it wasn't strong enough to become the bio-weapon Wesker envisioned. That's why Wesker continued working on his Uroboros project, which led him to Umbrella's African division and the Progenitor flower. So yeah, we did go back to Progenitor and T-virus. Not much with G-virus, but I would definitely want to see a hybrid with Las Plagas. By far, I enjoyed Las Plagas. Los Ganados were a much larger threat than zombies, and creepy too as they were still human, but savage, powerful, fast, and organized. Pirandello
So it's made by the guys who made SOCOM? Great, now I'm hoping it plays like SOCOM, but with a zombie twist.

CorgiShinobi
Leon: Why am I always coming back to this damn city?! Time to end his misery. :3 I don't want to kill him though! I've gone through Resident Evil 4 over a dozen times. We're like soul brothers, man! I would say I'd kill Jill instead, but that tank top would distract me too much. Shoot, when she runs away, I would be too distract with...
Mal
Kill... Jill? She whipped the Nemesis', imo the most fear inducing tyrant, ass. Eh, lets see how they rape my horror filled childhood again. Sure it could be a great game but... eh.
CorgiShinobi
Well, considering you're playing as Umbrella Security Services, and this covers RE2 and 3, Jill is most likely going to be a target.
MetalCaveman
It looks like they "hover" a bit when they move, other than that it looks cool. Also, I'm actually looking forward to fighting/potentially killing well known characters of the RE universe.

CorgiShinobi
I imagine, near the end, it's going to resemble the beginning of The Dark Knight. Vector: Hey Bertha! Bertha: What now? Can't you see I'm busy talking in my German accent? Vector: Knife! :mma:

Pirandello
That wasn't much for me in terms of gameplay. Just running, shooting, and killing. It looks like the 4-player co-op part wasn't really there for co-op, and more for the fact of having 4 players for the sake of more players.
