Mister Jack
I bought it but I've been too busy to play it. I just wanted to pick it up before it potentially sold out.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Given the amount of traveling I'm going to be doing I'm seriously considering a new 3DS + Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS. That time frame is right around when I should be getting a paycheck that isn't tied to my rent so it's a legitimate possibility. I fall into the "never owned a Wii so I never played it" camp. This totally happened btw
Vecha
Yeah, I was thinking it would sell out...which is why I also have the new Wii u xenblade game preordered. Whatcha think so far, FDS?
Faiblesse Des Sens
Haven't played much but I do like the battle system a lot. Reminds me of FF12.
Pojodin
Still working on it. I have it for Wii, but I keep getting sidetracked with other games. T_T
Mister Jack
I'm finding myself running into the same problem with this game that I did with Dragon Age: too many quests in the starting area. I know I can leave at any time and continue on to the rest of the game, but that would mean leaving these quests unfinished and I can't have that.
Pojodin
Yeah, that's definitely a big part of it.
Vecha
I had that same issue...but wouldn't call it an issue for myself. Loved running around each area for the 10 or so hours it took to complete the quests.
Mister Jack
I don't mind it, per se, but it does probably mean I will be overleveled for the actual story missions. When I played the Wii version I didn't bother finishing all the quests and the first real boss of the game took me a couple of tries to beat. This time around I didn't go fight him until I had already cleared out all the quests in Colony 9 and I curbstomped his ass.
Mal
Yeah, this is for sure one of the rougher Switch titles I've played but the art direction really does pull through. At the same time, you can't help but wonder why Monolith is still on such a low-powered system when trying to pull off such detailed work. Sure they are pulling everything they can but on better hardware this would be one amazing looking game. So if you are a performance nut, this is kind of not the game for you. Mister Jack
How direct is the plot connection between the three games? I'm still stuck on the original on 3DS because it has a billion sidequests, but I still want to play the newer ones. I still have a Wii U just for Chronicles X. Mal
As far as I am aware and from what I've been told, none. There's no connection between the games besides themes and battle system. If you go from XC1 to XBX and to XC2 you should see a nice evolution of the battle system. 36 minutes ago, Mister Jack said: I'm still stuck on the original on 3DS because it has a billion sidequests Be prepared for that with XC2. You might be way overleveled after a romp through most of your sidequests.
TheFlyingGerbil
Do the enemies scale with you in CX2? If not I always try and do all the side-quests first. I know some people say it makes the combat too easy but that is the opposite of a problem for me.
HydrateStandby
XC1 and XC2 are connected but they aren’t sequels. Can’t say much else without it being too spoilers but if you beat the game you’ll figure it out. Also XC2 enemies don’t scale, you just find higher level enemies or unique enemies to gain exp and smash to get cores.
Mal
Hydrate, I wouldn't even mention the connection because it works so well. Reason why I haven't corrected myself. It's one of the best kept spoilers in the game. And yeah, be prepared to be ganked by Monkey Trouble or Blue Bird of Death.

Mal
https://gematsu.com/2018/02/xenoblade-chronicles-2-version-1-3-0-update-launches-next-week-details Details for NG+ which has spoilers. The most important change is that you can now skip the core crystal animations. In addition to the other animation skips, the grind is now WAAAAAAAAAAAAY less. Not sure if they have yet but now if only they do mass release of blades to cut the grind down even further. Also could use better item management (right now it's just huge lists). I can almost call this a 9/10 game now. Edited February 9, 2018 by Mal
Mister Jack
I wish they'd add a percentage for the probability of unlocking rare blades when you open a crystal. There's no microtransactions so there's really no reason to keep that a secret. I want to know if some characters have a better chance than others. There also needs to be an easier way to get your hands on overdrive protocols. They're absolutely essential items yet almost impossible to get. Mal
If you are planning to play the main game then I suggest to NOT watch this. Spoilers. But yes, this fleshes out Torna and the people (and blades) who were there. We actually see a face. Also gives the best waifu of the game some characterization. All in what seems to be a sizeable standalone expansion.
Mal
Nice! It'd be a nice way to round out the series before a third installment. Hint?
