XenoBlade Chronicles

Alright, so I just got through what was quite possibly the most unbalanced and frustrating boss battle in the game. I thought I was too underleveled to attempt it, so I went to grind until I was 2 levels under the boss, which always seemed to be enough for every boss prior.

Nope! The boss is the size of a house, there are environmental hazards around you, and the damn thing will not stay put and push you and your team just about everywhere. Oh, and it summons a bunch of little guys that have status spikes. Lots of prep work and about 5 attempts later, manage to finally beat the damn thing.

Shame, too. Every boss before this one always felt challenging but manageable. Points off.

Where did you guys even get Xenoblade Chronicles? Not even Amazon sells it, at least not itself as other sellers mark-up the retail price.

I've finally arrived in my hometown, so maybe the stores have it here, but really, North America finally receives Xenoblade Chronicles and it's nowhere to be found!

Well, in Gamestop's defense the game may never have seen a release here if it weren't for them. Probably works two fold, they get to sell it and will sell a lot of copies at their stores for lack of competition but it probably wouldn't have sold well enough to warrant a mass release. I believe it's only sold 250k copies right now.

So wait, the sidequests in old towns are triggered by story events? So I need to be going back to those old towns periodically?

Also, I will say that it's a little annoying having to walk around each town about 3 times to find all the quests people are offering because they're only available at certain times. It's also hard to remember where the guy that gave me the quest is sometimes.

This is the first game I've considered buying a guide for in a long long time.

Well not really periodically. Most places give you 75% of their side quests the first time you there. There's a big plot development that changes things in one city though where you have to make sure you do all the side quests there, but aside from that its pretty lax. City below.

Finished.

Currently analyzing where this game ranks with me appropriately, but I can easily say this ranks EXTREMELY high for me. The ending was pretty incredible, in more ways than one, so interpret that however you like.

But man, I'm tired...I'll say more when thoughts settle.

Glad you liked it but I'm aghast that you haven't messed around in there just to get that up to a round 100 hours.

I was going to play a lot longer to finish up side quests, raise affinities, and try to unlock some other trees, but I was afraid that going on would make me too overpowered to appropriately enjoy the finale. Plus, I was at the end, so I just wanted to finish things up.

Funny, because while I did overlevel myself a bit, the final boss still posed a challenge for me, which was just the best thing I could ask for in a finale.

So Excel, you're saying that Xenoblade Chronicles is better than The Last Story?

EXPLAIN YOURSELF!

No, really, explain as EU has had these games a lot longer than the ol' NA market. I mean, The Last Story was back in February, but I'll have to wait until July.

well I haven't played enough of The Last Story to really get a proper feel for it. I feel Xenoblade just does everything it sets out to brilliantly, the music, the exploration, the characters, the setting, the sense of truly being in a massive world. I just can't see Last Story, from what I've played, topping it. And Last Story is quite enjoyable don't get me wrong, its got a really unique approach to combat and the story may top Xenoblade but...Xenoblade just does everything perfect. Not a single part of that game is half baked.

I'm 193 hours into it by the way, but I've tried to do EVERYTHING and I've left the game paused a few too many times I suppose. But I absolutely love it to pieces. If a sequel is Wii U bound, or coming out launch day then....I would kill someone, in front of THEIR OWN MOMMA JUST TO GET IT.

hope you haven't all seen this already - it's Xenoblade Chronicles running in Dolphin. I'm pretty sure someone mentioned that in here/on a status update. If nothing else some of the pictures would make pretty epic desktop wallpapers.
