Maybe I'm being naive but you'd imagine there'd be a more noticeable different in price between a 2 bed terrace house and a 1 bed flat; nope. I had a flat viewing a few months ago, they wanted £475 P/M for what was essentially  a single bedroom and a kitchen/bathroom/living room. Disgusting.

You don't mention location in either case. Why is that? That's a huge determination of pricing in the US. Also, age of the place.

More general than anything. The flat was an old textiles factory that got converted a good while ago; the kitchen was a bit of mess (unhinged doors - stains on the floor) and there was little to no lighting (also directly on main road - no garden).

It's a massive factor here as well. And it changes drastically over as little as a mile. £475 sounds like too much for the North (unless it's near one of the big city centres), but not even close to enough for London. Could be anywhere in between. *shrug*

Two of my housemates went for the midnight viewing. Really enjoyed the film. Found this out at 3AM. Wasn't already best of sleeping moods since one that had remained practised guitar beyond midnight. Dropped a message to em that it was 3AM, but got ignored, chat continued at non-3AM volume pretty much outside my door with guitar practising housemate. Currently pulling teeth trying to get an apology at least.

edit: "Fine, I'm sorry for the maybe 5 words in personally said". The sincerity is breathtaking.

That's rather inconsiderate. I get that you're pumped and want to download to your buddy, but you should still respect that others are on a normal sleeping schedule and try to keep it down a little (or at least apologise for being a little overexcited).

Yeah I was even giving an out for that too:

Would that extend to a sorry on entuhusatically waking me up at 3AM and having a good halfhr long chin wag?

Like I understand it's Star Wars, but I'm at work (a recent trope being the "ask dean to call landlord/fix things/pick-up contracts while he's at the 9-5 job he's held for more than 2yrs then get annoyed when he says he's at work"). Not much extra effort to sneak quietly through the door like you're breaking in and sneak off upstairs to bed for the night instead of grabbing another housemate n having a good chat in the hallway. It could easily have waited until the morning. Heck for the past week+ on the communal whiteboard right next to "birthday party 18th/19th" is "discuss star wars 17th".

Ah well, offski to see family next Wednesday onwards.

edit: had a much better response from other housemate. Does reinforce the "opposites attract" stuff :P. She was the only one to help sort out fire alarm issue other week without complaint or resistance too. (and amazingly the one I've lived with longest of all of them).

Apparently we've got the decorators in today and tomorrow? I guess I should be happy that our landlord is gonna tidy the place up for us, but I'm still not sure what rooms they're doing, how much they're doing (total repaint or just touch ups) and how many dudes are coming.

Honestly, I wish they weren't coming.

Wake up, head out, notice a "to let" sign screwed to our fence.
"hey anyone know about this? they not been in touch like usual about staying on n waiving admin fee?"

"oh yeah, they rang up and I told them me n partner were maybe moving out n some of uni students friends might be moving in"

Nice for discussing any of this with me :/

As it stands while I've issues with some of the housemates I totally like the house itself. Bus stop right outside, 20 minute walk to city centre, nice spacious rooms, nice back yard (though don't get chance to use it :/) so I'm totally up for hanging around here.

Lock them away then?

This system has now been implemented. At least for myself. After there was already stuff out for several days, then I went away for a week and it was still there I gave ultimatum that I'd wash up the stuff but if it's something that belongs to me it goes in my room for no one else to use. Was considered fair. I don't think they've realised what I own.

Originally was going to just go through the entire kitchen and move out all my stuff but tbh that'll be a total PITA. Though with the bits-at-a-time approach I feel ultimately the solution for those with cash but CBA to wash will just buy things new and the problem will persist. I'll need to eventually pack all my stuff soonish anyway so I may just go through in a couple weeks time if it doesn't get better and take all my things.
