Ok, what I envision is basically TAY IP chat in voice form. And so, TAY podcast was born.

Alright Links to all the stuff.

http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/home Skype would be the main voice program unless someone suggests another program we can use.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ This would be the recorder we could use.

Alright, We now have things slightly planned out. I shall need your GMTs, I say again, PM me your GMTS.

First Group

Dee

BHB

Mr.Goh

Johnny

I

Second Group

Connorrrr

Shaner

chilton

Deanb

Kenshi

So basically, no more than 5 guys/girls/robots.

In all seriousness though, I have little faith in that our mad ramblings could make an entertaining podcast.

EDIT: It'd 15 to 20 minutes of everyone trying to figure out my accent, and then the rest of the show being me and Dean arguing about some petty detail =P

Just as long as you're aware podcasts:

1. Will 9 times out of 10 be shit

2. Isn't a simple case of just go on skype and talk for an hour

3. Needs a good technical work out before starting to resolved any issues of dodgy static mics, low voices n such

4. Isn't a simple case of just go on skype and talk for an hour

If you're aware of those things at least you're partially prepared.

ehh

Aligning timezones will be an issue except for Saturdays.

ehhh

Your main thing to do is to get some form and structure to it. So before starting you need a GM who will run the shbang, move topics on, and you need to have picked up on topics to discuss before hand. Be it general things or the weeks news. You can't just say "podcast" and expect it to be brilliant. So draft a kind of script before hand. Don't be too afraid to let things go off on a tangent though.

ehhh

Some kind of chemistry to. So a few non-recorded test runs would be a good idea. Like get to know each other a bit before hand. The way you're suggesting it sounds like there wi'll be a core few, with rotating guests, so those core few need to be pretty friendly.

ehh

Accents probably will be an issue. But as long as folks are pretty clear should be good.

ehh

You need to get Faiblesse on.

I want to be the guy who just sits around while others talk and occasionally spurt random nonsense that actually makes sense if you think about it.

>___>

Also, since it's a Talk Amongst Yourself forum, it seems obvious that we* should have a podcast.

Topics shouldn't be hard to find since new games are coming out as we speak so we have a lot to ramble about.

*I'm still relatively new and I don't think I should be associating myself that quickly

I am very interested in participating, even if our first efforts are a mess.

I listen to gaming podcasts every day, and I've also been told on a number of occasions that I'm eloquent and possess a "radio voice."

out of curiosity, what gaming podcasts do any of you listen to?

I listen to Bitmob's Mobcast, the Game Informer Show, Orange Lounge Radio, and back when it was still around, Kotaku's Talk Radio.

I listened to IGN and Screw Attack about two years ago and thought they were both terrible. I probably owe it to them to try them out again and see if they've improved.

I listen to EpicBattleCry. Though not been able to keep up much lately.

On the topic of voices I'd suggest anyone wanting to join in grab Audacity (and LAME) and make a short recording n upload a dropbox link (cos forum auto-process MP3 files)

Just read a few paragraphs of something, maybe a news article or from a book.

1) Yeah I am aware it will be shit, and I really wouldn't have it any other way.

2)I guess we do need some sort of basic form, which would go like this:

-Introduction to this week's people.

-Game releases of the week

-What have we been playing.

-Other shit.(Pop culture) Movies, Music, books and all that.

We'll try it, and adjust it accordingly.

So, all in all, a test run should be adequate.'

However, we need to test it out first a few times.

Allright so! We got an outburst of steam going and have decided to just go and somethin' reckless. Mr.GOH! and Johnny have provided a few audio samples and things seem good to go. So far we've got Johnny, Mr.GOH!, Harri and Dee who are definitely in.

I'm sure Harri will be thrilled to have a few more people so if you'd like to join this terrible mess feel free to join, PM an audio sample of your voice via Dropbox to Harri if you really interested. Details of when, what, where, how are being worked out, but we'll get there soon.

Hasta Luego!

I did my voice ages ago.

Now I finish in a few days I'm up for it.

Heh. 'Zed'. Anyway, in the version I knew it was 'Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me.' I learned that in India, dunno if they use it in the states.

Oh, right, my voice. Do I really have to PM it? That's sooooo much work. I'm just gonna post it here.

Btw, my name's "Sahir". I know I have a weird voice, and I was describing Seattle's weather today.

I'd quite like to be in here. Only problem is a lack of decent PC/ laptop, my decent one's charger is broken, so I'm using my gf old horrifically battered old laptop.

Still, I'll do a recording late tonight and send it out if you feel it.

EDIT: I'd like to add that the possible outcome of using an old laptop is that the computer crashes midway through the podcast. That's quite likely, especially if we're looking up/discussing things in the background. I think the quality of the mic I have is fine, though.
