How to play Magic: The Gaddering

I know this thread is about the actual card game but I have a MTG question:

How is the MTG Duels of the planeswalkers game? I've played MTG a long, long time ago (10 years ago) but I stopped because I don't have the money to keep up with decks and packs.

Also what does this mean? It's one of the perks of the special edition pack (talking about planeswalkers 2013):

"10 Foil Conversions. Early access to foiled cards for the Ten Base game decks."

If I do get it, I'll probably get just the standard edition, but just curious what that is and how does it contribute to the special edition pack of the game.

I do not know about the special editions or anything.

As for DOTP itself, I'm not much of a fan. I know several people on this forum who enjoy it, however. My main problem with the game is that the flow and pacing from the card game are completely out of whack. I'm either waiting around for stuff to happen that happens immediately IRL, or I'm being rushed to stop a timer or play a card. I also have trouble identifying cards by sight and keeping track of what active abilities and effects cards in play have. I much prefer MTGO and the old Microprose DOTP.

Edit: that being said, it's probably worth the $10 or whatever it will be on sale.

Thanks! I'm looking at DOTP 2013 and is $10. But it's not on sale, or not marked as such. The 2012 game is 19.99... I wonder what's that about... though it looks like the 2012 one, even if it's not marked as a bundle, includes additional decks.

There's a demo so I guess I can try that first.

Some of the guild leaders for Gatecrash (along with a few mythics) have been spoiled so far. I'm just happy that there's finally a new art for Watery grave. Really liked the new art for Hallowed Fountain and sort of for Temple Garden (Still prefer the old Blood Crypt, though).

Aurelia, the Warleader is basically a Lightning Angel with a Waves of Aggression attached to it. That's actually kind of neat.

Then there's Enter the Infinite, which sounds fucking awful unless you have Omniscience on the field.

So if you liked playing standard in MTG, I feel for you. This might be the worst Type2/Standard set in the last ten years. The thing about Lowryn/Shadowmoor, Time Spiral, and Kamigawa is that at least some of those cards were good and would have much better value in the future.

These current ones just suck. Theros is the biggest disappointment since The Phantom Menace.
