Cyber Rat
I am pretty sure I mentioned this site somewhere on this forum, but I think it warrants its own thread as well. http://www.hardcoregaming101.net So, what's so special about it? Well, the reviews are usually meh and I rarely find myself agreeing with them. I cringe because they actually include a "List of characters" in their reviews like it was a Wikipedia entry. I should actually hate it. But I love it because the amount of information is great. They cover a lot of not-so-mainstream or long forgotten stuff. Heck, they even have a lot of Japanese exclusives there which are obscure even for Japanese gamers. It has great educational value and if anyone would like to catch up on some video game history or trivia, it's a great place to check out. Here's an example of how I became less ignorant about games. So, everyone knows Resident Evil started the whole survival horror thing. But wait! The Japanese actually took inspiration from Alone in the Dark. But wait! Alone in the Dark stole it from Project Firestart, meaning RE stole it from Project Firestart. But wait! Sweet Home was also a Capcom title which came out before Firestart, and it has many similarities to RE1, so it was Capcom who started the whole survival horror thing. And this was my reasoning until I found out about War of the Dead. Now, this is just a rough example. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but it taught me something new when it comes to the survival horror genre, so let's leave it at that and not derail this thread. HCG101 is a great source of info, and should be given a read every now and then.
