So, Empire really liked it.

Moody, urgent and, for want of a better word, Ringsier, it’s a much more satisfying film. If anything, it dispenses with early events with something approaching impatience.

Tauriel, a character created for the film who’s already got some Tolkienites raging, fits seamlessly into the world and gets to execute several pleasingly brutal orc-kills: at points, the film’s one arrow-in-the-head away from turning into The Raid.

So it's a rather enjoyable film once you stop cursing Peter Jackson under your breath about half an hour in.

THEY DO NOT JUST RUN INTO BEORN'S HOUSE!!!!! :bun-throw:

So hard to tell it's Cumberbatch too, it was hard in the trailer but in the film they likely could have gotten anyone it's so heavily tweaked. I've a feeling, given it seems even less Cumberbatch than the trailer that post-Into Darkness it got some more tweaking so it didn't sound like Khan the Magnificent.

I rather like the Elf King and look forward to what's (meant to be) coming in the next film with him.

"Did he just say he's turning the final bit into a two parter?"

First official still of "Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies", which if you've never read the book (it's pretty much YA, should be able to devour it in under a day) is a relatively big spoiler maybe of sorts. Of course enough has been changed so far that it'll be interesting to see if like there's an extra few armies thrown in.

First trailer for Battle of Five Armies. What's weird is they're calling it a teaser, but they released a 15 second long teaser last night.

My main thoughts with this movie is I know the overall plot due to the book, but I kinda want to see Jacksons changes, and kind of get it all out of the way.
