Things You've Written About For School

I'm not interested in just anything here: I'm talking about amusing things you've been able to write about in your essays for school--college, high school, whatever.

-Right now I'm about to work on a 5 pager on Persona 4's social links.

-One essay about Americana and the obession with the underdog talked about Stephen Colbert, Fall Out Boy, and a couple of other things i don't remember about anymore.

-An essay about art and media being inclusive and a 'safe' space talked about Street Fighter 4 and its depictions of race, as well as some other games which showcased some terribad isms.

-Essay about identity and multiplicity talked about our ability to mold Shepard however we see fit, talked about how more and more game are allowing us to insert ourselves in there as a means of mitigating identity and how this lets us experiment cos our society tends to have a very static view of these things (you have one persona instead of multiple ones that arise depending on the situation)

There's probably a few others I can't remember anymore...what about you guys?

it was for a "rock history" class intended for freshmen I took my senior year to get rid of a lib ed credit and basically we had one paper where we could write about whatever and I did a critical analysis of the video for telephone and eventually I juxtaposed the imagery there with m.i.a.'s "paper planes" and t.swift's "you belong with me" and came to the conclusion of "m.i.a. and gaga are progressive feminists" and that taylor swift profits off promoting outdated gender roles and stereotypes

I never wrote about games or social networks back in my college days.

I did write a paper on the novel "Wieland" and it was such a dense and boring book that I really struggled through the paper. Got a B even though I read a third of it.

By the way, the book is about a guy that spontaneously explodes, and a ventriloquist.

These were all presentations

Middle/grade school age 7-12:

-Weather systems

-Global Ecosystems and ecological subsystems (rainforest),

-Ski's/Skiing,

-videogames (product)

-Napeleon (fucking depressing I know, this was a last-minute suggestion because my teacher was uncomfortable with the presentation I had been working on for 2 fucking weeks because it was about bombs, so I had 2 days to present the exiting world of history, yay)

high school age 12-16:

-The effect of psuedosciences on mass consumerism (astrology, zero point energy)

-Videogames (psychology) (my teacher didn't want me to do a (d-k) piece on Democracy, ironic bastard)

-evolutionary psychology

-pathology/addiction and anatomic influence thereon

Ow yeah, also an essay on why women need to clean whilst their men are working. Netted me a solid 10, probably because my Dutch teacher could stand tongue-in-cheek whereas my other teachers did not. Ow did I mention I've had a gazzilion teachers and a dozen schools per age catagory at the minimum? Yeah, that's not even an exaggeration. I was a difficult child.

Wrote a paper on identity that discussed Eminem. I didn't listen to his music before that.

A review of everything is bad is good for you.

Wrote about nazi propaganda too.

A paper about places that turned into a work of fiction.

Most of these were amusing to me, and ended up being interesting. I had a hard time doing papers in college and I was an English major. My grammar is pretty horrendous though.

The most fun I had was writing poetry for a book. Still enjoy it the most. Form and meter became fun to me.

In High School, I attended Beverly Hills High School (don't ask) and wrote an English paper on whether homosexuals should be allowed to adopt. Back then I was a raging conservative pissant who didn't know anything, so I said they shouldn't be allowed to adopt. (Unstable households, population shrinkage, etc..)

I got a D. Now, I thought my paper was written well. My previous papers in that class made A's. Can't prove the grade was given because of my choice of topic in an ultra-liberal school, but what the hell, it's fun to speculate.

And by the way, I do think they should be allowed to adopt. I have grown out of my ignorance.

My final speech tomorrow is on Xbox 360 vs PS3 so I guess that should be fun.

the only good thing about speech class was being able to pick subject matter for speeches. i hated it otherwise. oh, and my speech teacher was an actor who used to be a waiter along with bruce willis in new york back before he was famous and he had such sour grapes he'd talk about was a douchebag bruce willis was at least once per class. that was mildly amusing.

The best thing I can think of was when I was a freshman in high school in my English class we were supposed to write about poetry so I wrote about KMFDM songs.

My fiancee wrote a paper for her anthropology class this sesmester about the Kotakuites Minecraft server though.
