Yantelope
I need a quality gaming headset for my PC. What do you guys use and which one is best? Right now I'm considering this one: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-7-1-Channel-Surround-Sound-Headset/dp/B001O5CCQK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303499918&sr=8-1 I don't really want a wireless one because I don't have the desire to charge it all the time. deanb
I currently have a Creative Fatality. It's decent enough but not very good at withstanding trailing along the floor then being stood on. So I'm also on the look out for a new headset, though more in the £30 range. Personally I think the whole "surround sound with two cups" shit is bollocks, but I've not personally listened to any so maybe they've managed it but I've never heard great things. Also as part of that I'm not keen on USB powered ones, it loses a USB port for one when I have perfectly usable 3.5mm plugs that I can't plug my printer or keyboard into. The one thing I love on the fatality is the detachable mic. Means it doesn't get in the way, and I can easily disable the mic when the little slider thing fails. Yantelope
I am kind of stuck to USB since the 3.5mm jacks on my case were crap and don't work. I'm also looking to get away from Creative because their customer service is crap. I think they've made some great products but I don't know that I'd get another one from them. A detachable mic would be nice.
MetalCaveman
I'm also looking for a headset for both my PC and PS3, however, is there something I can use only for voice chat? I'm kinda ignorant on these things, so I don't know if you can keep the game audio through the TV and just use the voice chat features. Of course having both would be cool too, but not necessary. Sorry for using your thread Yant! But it's better than creating a new one for the same thing I guess... Unless there was already one about this topic... deanb
PS3 uses bluetooth, and yeah you can have it so game noise goes through TV/sound system and voice chat through the headset. If you want a device that'll work on both just pick up a Bluetooth adaptor for you PC, they're dirt cheap. I've got one from a pound store. I have this and it has been good for me but it seems it's out of production so bum http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Vantage-Bluetooth-Headset-PS3/dp/B0014VRRVY (I paid £15 for it)
Yantelope
Yeah, for PS3 you can just pick up any bluetooth headset that you'd normally use for a cell phone and it'll work fine. I really like that Sony did that.
Enervation
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Headset-G330-Black/dp/B002I3OZB2 I use this one. The specifications are a little bit down the page, but it's compatible with both double-prong and USB input.
TheFlyingGerbil
here's a video that uses 3D audio and you can definitely hear the effect through normal stereo earphones, so it does work.

I really like that Sony did that. To be honest I would prefer something that isn't wireless. Only problem with that is cable length, but that's easily solved I guess. Also, I don't like using cellphone headsets as I find them to be a bit uncomfortable for long gaming sessions. deanb
Also, I don't like using cellphone headsets as I find them to be a bit uncomfortable for long gaming sessions. Hence my suggestion on the Vantage. I'm in the same boat n the vantage isn't a regular Bluetooth headset that kinda sticks in your ear, maybe hooks a little bit around it. This one is built more like a cup of sorts, then it loops around your head.
MetalCaveman
Looks like it's been discontinued, seems like a good choice though, I'll look around, try to find if someone still sells it. Also... Just in case, recommendations for a headset that has both voice chat and game audio features?
MetalCaveman
Sorry for double posting but I wanted to ask: Turtle Beach PX21 (actually, the DPX21, the bundle that comes with the DSS thing), good choice or should I go for something else? Kinda want to get the Astro A40 or A30, but they're way too expensive and apparently you have to buy some extra adapters to use them with the PS3. Anyway, what do you think of Turtle Beach? Are they a good/reliable brand? What other brands/models can you recommend me? Thanks for the help!
