Mal
$500... eh. At least there isn't much games that I care for. World of Tanks looks fucking stupid regardless of the platform. Ugh... I guess it is my time to come out... MISTER I'LL CUT YOU. But seriously, what was shown is HARDLY how you play that game. Rush like that and 99% of the time you'll get slaughtered. CorgiShinobi
I mean, what do you think would happen with an Xbox LIVE purchase? You would download it from the XBL servers, and the upload it to your "Cloud"... Really? I just genuinely don't see how you could think this was a thing. I know I just cut out a lot of your quote, but I already said what I think about this. "Most likely when you download games from Xbox Live, there won't be a need to have any copy in the Cloud because there will be a record/transaction showing proof of purchase. Thus, just how it works now with PSN and Live, you would just redownload from the service rather than Cloud." I'm willing to admit I'm wrong, but damn it we're talking about a $500 console with asinine licensing restrictions and a perceived idea that all of it's consumers will have accessible Internet services each and every day for their console to work. A one-time upload of a dozen gigabytes for disc-users might as well be thrown in there, but it's not like I'm defending it. My fault is I'm being literal because "in the cloud," according to everyone else, isn't "in the cloud" and is code for Xbox Live. Microsoft has also gone crazy with the idea of "Cloud computing," so I guess we'll have to wait until launch to see what's really "cloud" anything if it's all going to be muddled together as a buzzword. TheMightyEthan
It used to be hard, but now at least in the US you can do it through your account settings on the Xbox Live website.
Waldorf and Statler
Can somebody give me a step by step on how to turn off auto-renewal? Mine doesn't expire till January anyways.
deanb
Apparently you want to set it to be in Illinois so that the website doesn't "crash" or have "errors" as it's gong through. I think the phone calls should work in US, which'd be about the only one, minus a court order, that'd stop it auto-renewing out of US. deanb
http://gamasutra.com/view/news/194011/Opinion_Xbox_Ones_tough_value_proposition.php Gamasutra's editorial of the Xbox E3 presser. Good to know I'm not the only one noting the weirdly unpassionate people on stage. Especially the 343 lass. Announcing a new Halo like she was talking about her recently deceased parrot. God-fucking-speed, my friend. I've been trying to do this for years myself. And thanks for the guide Atom.

NeoStarr
It didn't occur to me because every year I try it, and every year I think I've got the job done, and then the next year another bill comes in. It's been going on since my X-Box RRoD'd, which was only 2 years ago, so without all the hyperbole this will be the third time I've attempted it. The removal process is actually total bullshit; I can confirm that beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Waldorf and Statler
Actually I feel stupid but I can almost swear this didn't use to be this easy. Basically you log into xbox.com, go into My Account. As long as your live email has a way to verify that it's you, you can do it right there. WTF
Oh I've seen that video. The hubris. It's amazing. "Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called xbox 360." "The average internet connection is working the majority of the day - people are imagining that it isn't... It's change. There was a point in time when people would say all i want my phone to do is make a phonecall." Seriously it's getting to ridiculous levels. You are selling to consumers, your aim is to maximise the consumer-base not separate yourselves from them. Stop talking. Literally. It is sad about Orth in retrospect since he was just spewing what they were feeding.
deanb
Or play Xbox (1?). That's a pretty offline device now... edit: Yup, it says "Xbox 1 games". Also we're three years on, has any new features come to XBL in those years?

TheMightyEthan
Also we're three years on, has any new features come to XBL in those years? That was always an obvious bullshit excuse anyway. There's no reason why they can't support different devices with different capabilities. That'd be like claiming a website's regular version had to come down because they wanted to support mobile devices.
