Thursday Next
The move must have been in the offing for some time. You don't jump into a CEO job overnight. I reckon they just stepped up the timetable considerably so that they could parade a head on a spike.
deanb
Yeah, I was saying to Ethan yesterday that this won't be related to anything post-Xbone launch. EA has been CEO-less since March, so I can't see him ending up fired and at Zynga since E3 (two weeks ago) or even the reveal (6 weeks ago). It'll have been in the works a while, which makes you wonder why the hell MS let him stand up on stage and try and sell their brand new multi-billion dollar product, and the PR stuff after, if his heart and future was in playing farmer over at Zynga. It won't look good for MS though, already had Sinofsky offed after Windows 8 launch, having Matrick go alongside the Xbox One reveal cokcing up too isn't going to ease investors. Especially when they don't have a direct replacement.
Mister Jack
The way I see it there are only three possible reasons why he would leave a giant like Microsoft for Zynga: 1) His recent blunders forced him out and Zynga was the best he could get. 2) He's getting a huge golden parachute and he privately doesn't give a shit about Zynga as a company. 3) He wants to be a CEO and actually believes he can turn Zynga around. It could even be a combination of the three, but I don't think there's a human being alive who could un-capsize Zynga at this point. These are the only reasons that make sense to me, though. I mean, I know Microsoft has been fucking up lately but come on, we're talking about Zynga.
Faiblesse Des Sens
2 and 3 are the most likely. 1 is something thought up in the minds of the kids who live in fantasy world who know nothing about business.
Waldorf and Statler
FDS there was a better way of saying that without sounding like an ass. Also out of curiosity is the xbox division cursed? Seems to me that they lose big division execs faster than anything else I read of, at least gaming/technology wise.

Faiblesse Des Sens
Isn't this a Skype issue and not a Kinect issue? Just don't use Skype on your Kinect.
TheFlyingGerbil
But kinect will be on pretty much all the time, not just for skype and it sounds like MS will be happy to send the kinect audio/video data
deanb
Not just Skype. MS have been quite happy to hand over pretty much everything. The source Guardian article linked is the better read.

deanb
Going Incognito doesn't affect the behaviour of other people, servers or software. Be wary of: Websites that collect or share information about you Internet service providers or employers that track the pages you visit Malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smilies Surveillance by secret agents People standing behind you

Not even close. He wasn't going to be head of Operating Systems so he found a better job.

Waldorf and Statler
The incognito line doesnt make me laugh as much as cringe from bad memories. Memories of fapping as a 14 year old and my mom walking in on me. Seeing some pretty fucked up porn.
