Xbox One

PS4 has some functionality missing until you update. Games work though. Xbox One won't even do your games without the day one update however due to all the DRM bullcrap they pumped into the console before turning their ship around (a little bit, cos the vibe still seems to be aimed at heading to DRMsville eventually. But I guess it depends what happens with next MS CEO.)

anyone keep up with the MoonlightSwami twitter fiasco?

This guy preorders an xbox one from Target.  They ship it to him early.  Obviously, he's excited.  Posts an unboxing video.  Pictures, download size details, answers questions, even times how long it takes to boot to dash. Downloads the day one drm removal update. Then Microsoft strikes his YT videos, and bans his console.

The rational person in me hopes that this is reversed come launch day, otherwise this is horrible treatment by Microsoft.  He didn't sign an NDA.  He got his console, if MS has an issue with anyone it should be Target.  Which, undoubtedly, is coming to be sure.

I think it's stupid on two levels.  One level is Microsoft's approach to the situation and the other is the guy who did the unboxing video.  I think we're mostly savvy enough to stop and go 'What could possibly go wrong for me posting an unboxing video for a system that I got a while before its street date?  Oh, besides EVERYTHING.', but that's just me.

Nokia has declined to comment on the story for Bloomberg, but a Microsoft spokesperson released a statement to GamesIndustry International saying, "We appreciate Bloomberg's foray into fiction and look forward to future episodes."

You joke on months of marketing ruined, but it is. They'd spent months trying to turn it all around and convince folks they'd given up on their plan of being DRM'ed to the eyeballs, and here's a guy whose banned from the console that he fully legally owns and has handed over quite a considerable sum for. It was one thing when game publishers tried to limit consumer rights with software licenses for thier games, but this is hardware.

Actually, I think I might prefer that layout. Any folded material would have its spine exposed, thereby making it easier to pull out said material. As for the disc, I could use my thumb rather than pushing on the spindle with my index finger. Then again, all you have to do is flip the case 180 for either preference with the only discrepancy being what is considered "right side up."

I'm right-handed too, though I do some things the "left-handed" method. I guess taking out games/discs is another one of those too. Still, if a game is going to have a bit of paper material to it (which is rather rare these days), I would prefer pulling it all out spine first rather than multiple pages. That's a really, really, really minor detail overall.
